the room is small, but clean, the staffs was nice. the breakfast was very good. It is family friendly.

I was a bit turned off when the staff didn’t ask to see any ID when checking in. The rooms were clean and served their purpose for the night, but our group went out to dinner and got back late not realizing there was no staff on property and front doors were just wide open. That gave us a little pause when it came to security of the property. The included breakfast was more substantial than anticipated and was a nice surprise. However, the surrounding town is very desolate due to the evacuations from the volcano, and that was not advertised in a bit shocking upon arrival. The hotel is very close to the Blue Lagoon, which is why we picked it so it was an easy drive the next morning.

Property is what you are looking for, a place to rest and be in the middle of everything. The room was very clean, staff was cordial, breakfast was good and hot. The area needs tourism, sadly that tow. Has been through everything. You should go and support it. I’m glad we did, went to the blue lagoon which is 10 minutes away. And there’s so much more.

Our stay at Geo Hotel Grindavík felt very basic and functional, rather than comfortable or welcoming in a traditional sense. The hotel is simple and no-frills, with minimal amenities and a slightly worn atmosphere. While it serves its purpose as a place to sleep, it does not offer much in terms of comfort or character. During our visit, the town itself felt unusually quiet and almost empty, which created an unsettling atmosphere. Many buildings and streets gave the impression of a place where daily life has been disrupted, and there was very little activity in the area. The overall experience felt impacted by the wider situation in Grindavík, with the sense that normal community life has been heavily affected. This gave the stay a very different tone compared to other towns in Iceland.

Great breakfast. Very basic room, windows all face entry which was noisy with smokers til 10ish but quiet after that

the room is pretty small and is not very convenient to go to train station.

Super quiet, great location for Blue Lagoon and airport. Our room was 210 and unfortunately the curtains were NOT BLACKOUT. To be safe, bring a sleeping mask. Breakfast was minimal, but staff was very courteous.

There was no staff when we arrived. It took a while to check in because we were left with no instructions and there was no one there working. The shower was incredibly nasty. And in the middle of the night the fire alarm went off and it took about an hour for someone to come and turn it off. I requested a refund with photos and video proof but no one ever got back to me.

Clean and quiet. Professional staff and a very nice breakfast.

Everything was good

The best thing is it’s close to the airport and the blue lagoon. As we only had less then a day of layover, this place is very near the blue lagoon where we planned to spend a few hours of relaxation before flying back home.

We booked this hotel because of its proximity to the Blue Lagoon. Staff was very friendly and the room was clean. Did not realize that the town is an abandoned ghost town with most of the town fenced off and minimal food choices open during our stay. Bed was an old spring mattress that was uncomfortable.

Staff missed housekeeping 2 out of 3 days.. very disappointed.. And breakfast although better than what other hotels in area offer, lacked variety.. same bread, boiled eggs or cereal was hard to eat 3 days straight.. Having addl options like waffle maker, scrambled eggs will be nice..!

I feel for this town, given the recent volcanic eruptions that left the city quite deserted. The hotel conditions may be a reflection of that, with only a handful of staff there to operate the front desk, clean rooms and manage the breakfast buffet. Upon arrival, there was no staff at the front desk. There was a sign with a WhatsApp number to message or call, so fortunately one of the three other groups waiting to check in were able to get a hold of the receptionist. In terms of the room conditions, there were still leftover food in our fridge from the previous guests, a dried up dirty towel in the shower, and hair left in the shower drain. On top of the poor room conditions, the shower head was broken and we had to find a creative way to keep it propped up + the pressure was really low. One of the selling points of booking this hotel was the free breakfast buffet. We arrived around 9 am (breakfast is 7-10 am) and most of the food was running low and the one staff managing the area was trying her best to refill things. My appetite was quickly ruined when I found a strand of hair in the bowl of skyr. The coffee machine for guests was also sooooo bad, which is odd because they had a fancy machine behind the receptionist desk which was off limits. All in all, the hotel did the job of providing a place to sleep close to the airport. But I was very excited and eager to check out.

Breakfast was mediocre, rooms aren’t as pictured. The area around the hotel is a ghost town. Staff are alright but you don’t feel welcome here. For the price i’d rather stay in the city and drive the 40 minutes. Only plus is that it’s 6 minutes from blue lagoon.
