I stayed at the Niyagama House for 5 nights. It was initially supposed to be 4 nights but I was having such a great time I extended an extra night. A friend of mine had recommended it as a great place to unwind, so I knew what to expect, but what I experienced was a lot more than I expected. What a place! The house is set in a beautiful tea plantation. the rooms are beautifully decorated. It has a beautiful pool and a lovely dining area with amazing views of the beautifully manicured garden and the tea plantation. The food served everyday was delicious. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating, always aiming to provide a 1st class service. I didn’t get to meet the owner Elke as she was away. Her replacement was a lovely lady called Ewa. Ewa took the Morning 1.5-2 hour yoga/ meditation classes and a few evening we go on to the roof and experiment with different medication methods at dusk. The classes were all provided to accommodate the people in the class, they were fun and I learnt a lot from Ewa. She also provided a great Thai massage which I had never had before. I have a stressful life in London, and this stay was exactly what I needed to help me unwind, restored and refreshed. I would highly recommend Niyagama for a relaxed yoga and meditation retreat get away destination. It is also a 20 minutes tuk tuk ride from historic town Galle and also easy access to beaches.
