Well run resort. The hotel staff were great. We had half board and both the dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent. Be sure to enjoy the big baths at the hotel. The inside bath has the sulfury water from the main town source in front the hotel. Inside are 3 tubs of different temps. My son and I both liked the middle bath it was “just right”. Be sure not to miss the outdoor bath. It has onsen water from a different source and has a lower sulfur content. The town is really fun and there is even a public onsen stream you can dunk your feet in while waiting to check in to the hotel.

I stayed in Sakurai Hotel the day before I checked in Hotel Ichii, I left my luggage at Sakurai hotel. Hotel Ichii sent a car to pick up the luggage for us, it was great. Thank hotel Ichii.

Beautiful scenery and town. Shopping and services are close, but in 5 or 10 minutes walking you can be in the mountains with natural hot spring streams or 15 minutes skiing. Bustling and quiet at the same time.

Central and convenient to the main attractions at Kusatsu Onsen. Excellent Facility. Good COVID controls in place and still providing stellar services.

Nice old fashioned hotel, even though it’s a bit outdated. But it keeps their own tradition since 19 century. Really enjoy the Onsen - hot springs ♨️ 😊

Hotel located right in front of 湯畑 and 5 min walk to bus terminal. Outside of hotel is renovated but Inside of hotel a bit aged. Dinner buffet offered many choices though we chose to take the second shift at 7:30 pm. We were a bit disappointed as some dishes were half finished and not replaced with fresh / hot ones.

While there was a little hiccup at the Kusatsu Bus Terminal pickup, my overall stay at the Annex was generally pleasant. It could have been made better to allow me to pay separately at check-in for dinner and breakfast since I was unable to make these choices during booking for single pax.

Good place to stay. Near the attractions and there is a shopping area just under the hotel. Free shuttle bus to the hotel from the bus terminal.

This place was amazing. It's a very short drive from the ski slopes. It was so relaxing to go to the onsen (hot spring bath) after skiing. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the show and the back entrance leads straight to the outdoor famous view. The hotel is also about a 3 minute walk to the street with all the bars. There is an indoor and outdoor Onsen separate male and females. The place was very clean and very comfortable. The futon measures are a little thinner and pillows are slightly harder than I'd prefer. The stay was wonderful. The dinner and breakfast busts have so many varieties.

Perfect little getaway spot with private in room bathroom and gender separate Onsen (hot springs spa) available to guests. Our room was traditional Japanese bedding which the hotel staff set during dinner. Buffet dinner and breakfast options available were great. Don't expect a luxury stay here, but it is a nice facility (under remodel when we visited in August 2016). They cover all the basics including a Yukata available for use while staying there. Staff is friendly and helpful. Walk around town and through the small shops and restaurants makes for a nice afternoon.

Hotel Ichii is an older property but in a great location in the middle of town just in front of the yubitake. Gender separated hot springs within the hotel are available. There is a small private ryokan behind the main building at the base of the hill that offers private bathing for couples or families. The staff is extremely courteous. Shuttle busses are available to & from the bus station. As it is a short walk from the station downhill to the hotel I would reccomend walking through the town to take in the shops along the way instead of using the shuttle. Meals are buffet style. Please be aware that many places in Kusatsu do not open early or stay open late. Definately would reccomend getting breakfast at the hotel and then exploring around town to find dinner. Please note that as of this posting th hotel was performing some construction that started about mid-day and did not get in the way of everyday hotel activities although a deck overlooking the yubitake was closed.
