Location is amazing, very isolated (we were happy to get the pick up and drop off, as we don't travel by car). İt snowed over night and we had a nice walk to the lake and lakeside onsen - magical. The breakfast was wonderful, lots of different Japanese breakfast items with view to the snowy forest. However, we couldn't help feeling that our stay was a bit of an inconvenience to the host family, which was not really about language problem. This was the first time we have experienced that in Japan...

The food they prepared for breakfast and dinner was delicious. Great location.

The only thing was for 2 nights I didn't have wifi. The place is very cozy, nice, and clean.

Surpirse tourist tax on arrival. They assumed because we were of western orgin that we would only want breads for breakfast. They offered thr rest of their guests a Japanese breakfast (which we would have loved). The website didnt state they had cats. I am very allergic so it made for an uncomfortable stay.

This place could be a great stay if the staff were a bit friendly. Not welcoming at all, and supposed to be a 'Guest House'. Very expensive stay for a hostel which can only be accessed by vehicle.

Very good hospitality the cooking in the place made the whole place smell like food which was not so good, other than that very recommended.

I thought the place was nice. It's quite the distance away from the closest station and very far from the nearest city but if you like that sort of thing then it's perfect. The room I stayed in looked like it was infested with ladybugs but they don't really bother you once you turn off the lights. Having a car is probably better for this place since everything is so far away. There's no store or restaurant nearby so you'll have to eat at the hostel which I personally did not mind. The staff however, will provide a shuttle service to Mashu station if you let them know in advance. However, it seems like this place would be better to stay at in the summer since there appears to be a lot of hiking trails in the area.

booked this hostel last minute (8pm at night) because I happened to be nearby and I had a great stay. Building is much more interesting architecturally than the average hostel. Dorm room was very comfortable (4 beds and plenty of room) with inner spring mattresses (hooray!). Common room very pleasant, hostel will cook dinner on request (noodle soup) and good japanese breakfast. Beers and cocktails also available. All reasonably priced. Staff were lovely and happy to have a chat. We did some stargazing and they recommended the "sea of clouds" at a local Observatory the following morning (weather permitting). Only dislike for me was the shared japanese style showers (shy!) but the hot spring bath was nice. Very happy with and would stay again.

This is a nice guesthouse quite out of the way. The staff are very accomodating and fetched me to and fro from the JR station multiple times. If you are on public transport, there is nothing much to see around unless you rent a bike. There are several good cycling routes along Kussaharo lake. Mashu is also accessible from here - get a ride to mashu station and transfer to public bus. Hostel staff speak limited english but they help as much as possible.

Quiet location near to sightseeing spots. Comfortable hostel, but shared bathrooms were on a different floor from the rooms which were quite inconvenient.

Guest house is located near Lake Kussharo. I rented a car, thus its easy to travel to the guesthouse. The guesthouse area is peaceful, cosy and countryside feel. Shared bathroom and toilet if you don't mind which is clean. They provide breakfast lunch dinner for a fee which is quite good. Would stay again during other seasons.

i would like to stay in this hotel few more days...

Tiny room, but great shared lounge and dinning rooms. The only meal we had there was breakfast, which was nice japanese buffet style. Onsen was tiny indoor bath in a slightly claustrophobic room, but nice and hot!

屈斜路湖、釧路湿原、摩周湖の観光拠点に選びました。結果、大満足です。4人部屋にひとり宿泊となり、広々と使わせていただきました。食事なしにしましたが、次回は食事を申し込みたいと思います。猫ちゃんもとても愛らしく、オーナーさんも優しいです。ありがとうございました。おすすめです。

客室が２階でトイレが１階なのが、ちょっと不便ですが、良い宿です。

I loved staying here. The hosts are really helpful and the food is really good.
