Nice traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast. Room with traditional Japanese tatami for sleeping. Staff are very nice welcoming and friendly. They even offer us a ride when we checkout. We travel with 2 children and they been very accommodating to our needs. Facilities provided 24hrs access to men and women public hot spring bath tub. There are also a private bath hot spring tub just for individual family to use. Overall been very happy with our stay on this roykan.

Unfortunately this was not a satisfactory property, especially by Japanese standards. One should think of it as a budget Ryokan option. On a positive note: the food--all Japanese style--was very good. But the building itself is in sore need of a big renovation and makeover. The carpets are horribly discoloured, presumably clean but they appear dirty. The walls in general need to be repainted. Doors need to be replaced. Many other details need looking after. The smell in the building is not very pleasant. The onsen was small and uninviting. Various mats on the floor didn't give one confidence that all was clean. Staff in general was friendly and accommodating, though some of the male responses to requests were a bit gruff.

Lovely remote location but physical place is a little dated in the interior. The staff was delightfully friendly. The food was plentiful but this was my first experience with it and not sure what i was eating most of the time, lots of unknowns so, i will reserve comment except that it was plentiful and beautifully presented.

Staff were very friendly and helpful! Only thing was a slightly weird smell in the room - otherwise, very relaxing and quiet ryokan with nice onsen.

This ryokan is showing its age. Some maintenance could improve the aesthetics. Still, it was good value for the price. The staff and the food (we opted for half board) were terrific.

Very well located Ryokan with a public onsen. The property is a little dated and the onsen was not the cleanest we experienced in Japan but the rooms were clean, comfortable and the location is beautiful. There are not a lot of dining options nearby so I recommend the half board plan. The breakfast and dinner was lovely.

We were in the Hydrangea room downstairs, with its pretty screens and a private balcony, and plenty of space. The futon weren't as thick as some other places, but we had spares, so we gave ourselves another layer. We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast, with attentive service. Check-in was great, and we enjoyed the hot lemon drink served on arrival. This ryokan has a choice of onsen, and we opted for the private room, which was lovely and relaxing. It was easy to get here by bus, but only a short walk to the Cable Car, so we were ideally placed for exploring everything we wanted to see in the Hakone area.

The location of the ryokan was very nice. It was peaceful with a view of the mountains. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was always delicious. The only negatives are that is on a hill, and the rooms are separated from the reception and dining area. The spa needs some updating, and it is a little run down.

This Ryokan is very family friendly and comfortably appointed. We enjoyed the public baths and Onsen and the food was excellent. I think the futons need to be replaced as they were pretty thin but otherwise it was a wonderful stay. Would come back again.

We unexpectedly got what looked like the Japanese style honeymoon suite. It was detached from the rest and was this huge space. The food was excellent and it wasn't difficult to find the shared gender bath empty. We walked from Gora station, which was...very hilly and steep, so take a taxi if you have luggage or can't walk far.

This is a Ryokan, not a western hotel, so it should be judged against that. Check-in was easy. The room was clean and comfortable. There is no bed - a mattress and bedding is brought in and put on the floor while you are at dinner. This proved more comfortable than many a hotel bed. The hot spring is gender segregated and is adjacent to the public shower facilities. Rooms only have a sink and toilet. Hot spring was enjoyable and the shower facilities were fine - not fancy but they both got the job done. Dinner and breakfast are included and are served in a private room in the main building. Food was plentiful and tasty - all traditional Japanese dishes. It's not the fanciest Ryokan, but it was a nice experience and a great value.
