Surprised that tap water wasn’t potable. Only one pitcher of drinking water provided, not enough for four people.

Friendly service. The host ladies were very friendly and tried their best to communicate with us. It’s a local traditional inn so don’t expect hotel style amenities and rooms.
Only complaint was the noise from neighboring room(s): you wouldn’t hear their conversations but their foot steps and door closing. Hope future visitors would learn to be quieter in such an older, traditional Japanese inn. But anyway the host ladies’ warm hospitality compensated for the annoyance.

Was looking for a stopover for one night and stayed in Yurakuan. The property looks old but it was well maintained. Everything is clean albeit old. The only downside is we book a room for 5 pax which has 2 twin beds and a room for 3 futons. But we can only fit 2 futons as the big table took up space and there’s no where else to place it. So my youngest gal squeeze with me on the bed instead. Other than that, the stay was comfortable

First time in Miyazaki. Nice place. Plenty of room for 5 of us. Close to everything. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Japanese style experience.

The hotel was well maintained. The staff were polite and hospitable.
The shower area was very cold and not well shaded from the wind. So it may not be that ideal during winter.
Otherwise, it had been a very pleasant stay

We arrived late in the evening. An elderly man who did not understand English handed us the key and showed us the way to the room. The bedroom was clean and comfortable but the bathroom was a bit crude and off-putting with mould in parts of the wooden fixtures. The neighbourhood was residential in nature and the ryokan was in a secluded location. The only restaurant nearby closed at 7:30pm. The ryokan itself did not have a restaurant but offered two thick slices of bread and butter and jam for breakfast. There was a toaster in the room should you wish to make toast.

The hotel was true Japanese style with an outdoor bath, tatami room and outstanding Japanese full breakfasts served every morning by our charming hosts. We would stay here forever!

Place was renovated with new interior and open-bath. Spacious and neat room and bath were definitely way better than we expected. I seriously recommend them to take a picture again for their room and bath.
