The staff and property were extremely professional and very well maintained. It maintained many of its historic charm while it appears they have had a recent modernization. Unfortunately our room was unsatisfactory; I had purchased a Jr Suite. The suite was awkwardly built. It had a very small seating area and a bedroom that held a king size bed, but there was little space around it. The room (121) is immediately on top of reception, and faces the parking lot, with no view of the river. We heard conversations from reception until 10pm, drunken returns to the hotel until 1am, and the gentle ring of the flag halyard banging against the flag pole in the wind all night Our room had NO AIR CONDITIONING. Fortunately, it was a cool night, and we had to keep the windows open all night, exacerbating to noise issue further. The hotel is beautiful, staff incredible, and location ideal. Simply make sure you get a suite on the second floor or above.

Just an overnight stay, but with time to walk in the adjacent commons along the Thames. The bed was a little hard, but otherwise good bedding and linens. Restaurant staff could use a little training in providing good and respectful service. They seem a little rough for the quality of Petersham. But maybe you are going for a pub atmosphere?

The hotel is in the heart of nature and it is classic luxury. The rooms overlooking the river have a beautiful terrace where you can enjoy the most beautiful times. The bathroom is very clean and large. There is great heating, no cooling, and I think it is not needed. The bed comfort is quite good. The restaurant is delicious. The reception is friendly. Mrs. Eva, thank you for her service and cooperation. I think it is one of the most beautiful hotels in the area.

Convenient location to visit Kew gardens ( the reason we choose Richmond) as it was only a ten min. bus ride right from near the hotel. Nice views from property and a 5min walk to Richmond Park and 10 min walk to the lively scene in "downtown" Richmond with it's many restaurants and bars.Great walking paths nearby not just in Richmond Park but also along the Thames which you can access from the Hotel in 5min. Only ate breakfast in the dining room which had an overly fancy, bit stuffy vibe to it mostly do to the incessant, awful, super mellow Hotel music in the background! Classic English breakfast was fine.

Check in was quick and easy. We stayed on my husband’s birthday and I had advised the hotel. I didn’t expect any upgrade or freebies but an acknowledgment would have been good. Room on 2nd floor was small, bed comfy. Showered hot, but pressure poor. There is no air conditioning and on a hot day it would likely be unbearable. It was warm during our stay and we had to sleep With the balcony door open. Not a problem at night, however during the day as the room is above the kitchen the smell of fried food was awful. Breakfast was good, although not sure its value for money at £34pp. Service was not so good, food dumped and no bread basket offered. All staff disappeared and there was no one’s attention we could attract. Eventually I got up and went to the reception desk to ask for the bread basket/toast we should have been offered. Would I return? Probably not, there are plenty of other hotels in the area to try.

Peaceful, traditional, reliable. Breakfast is far too expensive, however there are many options a short walk away in Richmond including the likes of Ottolenghi. The water pressure is low so showering is not such a pleasant experience. Finally, door closing is noisy though luckily we had considerate neighbours. All that said, we will visit again as we loved it in all its imperfections.

Stunning hotel in a beautiful location. The hotel is quintessentially English and I was in awe of the interior. Just stunning. And the view of the river is just as beautiful. Lovely walk by the river each day on my trip to town. Staff were wonderful too. Felt very welcome and taken care of. One thing to keep in mind is the property doesn't have air con. My room was very hot and stuffy. I had a fan on all night. We did have a couple of warm days but the hotel was considerably warmer even when the temperature had dropped.

It was our second time at the Petersham and we loved it as much this time as last time. We love that it is privately owned and not part of a chain. Our room was exactly as we expected - well decorated, clean and welcoming. The breakfast is great and it’s nice to have table service instead of a buffet for a change. Lovely location and free parking too! Our only complaint was not enough water pressure in the shower. We’ll definitely return.
