Villa Sanjo is a wonderful hotel. We stayed for one week during Christmas 2025 and could not have had a better experience. The hotel is situated in a side street but is very central and easy walking distance to restaurants, train stations, as well as highlights like Nishiki market and Kawaramachi shopping area. There is a wonderful bakery next door that was our go-to breakfast place. One note: the photos of the area do not do it justice; it is far nicer . The room was spotless and very spacious with modern amenities with a great shower. The room was spotlessly cleaned daily. One thing that sets this hotel apart was the fantastic staff. They were very helpful, offering great recommendations for restaurants and other highlights. In particular, Alex was incredible and offered truly exceptional service for our every need.

This is a small hotel with only 12 rooms so it felt very comfortable and private. Excellent rooms and service.

This is a gem! The room was big and cosy with all the necessary amenities, staff is absolutely amazing (they go above and beyond), and the whole place is so welcoming! There are lots of bakeries, restaurants and convenience stores nearby, and it’s easy to walk around or grab the metro. It was a pleasure staying here and I would love to return.

My wife and I traveled to Kyoto as part of our first trip to Japan and we both agreed, without a doubt Villa Sanjo Muromachi was a - of not the - highlight of our trip. A beautiful boutique hotel with spacious rooms, beautifully decored that make you feel right at home in the heart of historic and charming Kyoto. We opted to have breakfast served to our room and specifically the Japanese version which we did not regret. The service is top notch and especially the bartender. First rate cocktails 😉 Thank you!

The room was spacious and beautiful with all the amenities you need. The staff was wonderful and made us feel so welcome. They received our luggage and brought it to our room and also booked a taxi for us on our last day. Very short walk to a train station and shops and restaurants.

Beautiful Boutique hotel perfectly located in Kyoto. Only 12 rooms in the hotel so you get personalized service the entire stay. Plenty of English speakers so communication was never a problem.
