If you want a good location and do not care about sunlight, lugging your belongings up flights of narrow stairwells, an unexplained putrid smell, cheap springy mattresses, lack of bathroom shelves, dark surroundings, views of bricks walls (not the advertised park), a non-responsive host (we blew a kitchen fuse by operating the toaster at the same time the lights were on!), questionable art & dark moody wall colours then this place might just be for you!! We picked Hux because of its proximity to groceries & museums & park but it lacked necessities to make a salad (no large bowls) & slice bread (no bread knife) - so we just made eggs & blew a fuse toasting bread:/ We should have left before reception walked our luggage up to the flat. After a few days, the smell actually made us feel sick to our stomachs & gave us headaches, so we slid our belongings down the long narrow stairwell and made our escape! Staying across the street at the Royal Garden Hotel was the answer - plenty of lifts, exceptional breakfast buffet included, beautiful views of the park and sunlight (no weird noxious smell) Beware of these small "boutique" hotels. Unfortunately, the pictures did not match the advertisement and you cannot account for toxic smells until you arrive:(

Aside from waiting 12 minutes on arrival for someone to check me in, the staff were very attentive and knowledgable. As someone in the hospitaility industry I was very impressed with the personal letter with the coin and the decor was impressive. I would have someone look at the lighting in the batheroom for people who wear make up as it was very dark with a shadow due to the light placement and bulb. Overall I would stay here again.

We loved the Hux for its cool style and location at the entrance of Ken Gardens. The club/bar downstairs has frequent music (rock in’) but the noise was no problem, didn’t hear it.

The hotel is really local to everything - we booked a petite room and it was definitely small, but very comfortable. Close to a lot of shops, museums and the royal albert hall. Would definitely visit again.

This place is really amazing for a short trip to London! The hotel, staff, and bar are a great upgrade compared to other establishments nearby. (This is very noticeable- even in a great area) We enjoyed a fantastic jazz night when returning for the evening, including highly skilled jazz musicians and top shelf -curated drinks. The only downside, and something that reflects more of the traveler, is the rooms are very tight.(at least the one we stayed in.) If staying at the property for longer periods of time, we would suggest spending a little more and getting a larger room. Regardless of the space, this place is and was fantastic.!

Was fine! “The signature” room that I got still felt very small. Generally quite a small hotel- everything felt a little cramped, but charming enough!

The room was clean and had a coffee/tea bar. The shower was very small. I loved the boutique feeling of the hotel and it felt private and pretty quiet. Also, location was great. Close to multiple tube stations and good walking distance to Notting Hill. There is a narrow stairway up to the lift and some stairs also to get to the rooms so it would not work for someone with mobility issues.

What an incredibly unique hotel. The staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. We arrived early for a bag drop, but our room was available for check-in. We were escorted through the venue and facilities were explained to us. Their service made a lasting impression, and I'd happily recommend staying here. The room had good lighting options (natural and electric), and the bed was very comfortable. Facilities for tea and coffee are available and stocked in-room. The shower was a touch on the compact side, but didn't hinder it's use. Large mirror was useful for both of us to use the space at the same time. There was free WiFi and a TV in the room too.
