The property itself was fantastic and the bungalow we stayed in was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the food at the restaurant. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming. We're going to miss the soothing sounds of the jungle at night, especially the beautiful native birds that perched in the garden every morning. We would definitely stay here again.

Eyal and his staff were the saving grace of our trip. When everything that could go wrong, did, we were warmly greeted and welcomely accommodated. Our room was absolutely beautiful, and the food and service in the restaurant was unrivaled!

Beautiful boutique hotel. Only 6 rooms. each individually decorated . Owner chef welcoming and very personable. Amazing tasting meal available as well as regular menu. Enjoy the included family style breakfast (for hotel guests only) while you watch Toucans at the feeders. Highly recommend stopping at Gingerbred!

The room was quaint and well outfitted. The hotel location is beautiful and unique. The host was very hospitable, accommodating, and pleasant to talk to. The food is great and reasonably priced. The flowers, birds are a sight to see in the morning. If you want privacy and great accommodations at a great value, this is where to stay in Nuevo Arenal. It’s a short drive to Rio Celeste tubing or the Arenal Volcano.

Wow, this hotel was great. The staff were super friendly, parking and WiFi were both great! However the best thing this joint has going is the food! It’s incredible, I know there are many hotels in the area but this hotel was exceptional.

we were given a room in that was a separate l bungalow. it was very large with a king and queen bed. was air conditioned which is also uncommon.in Costa Rica. The breakfast was great and was included with the room. The restaurant has an awesome chef who completed culinary studies in Chicago.

Wow! Eyal and the whole (tiny) gingerbread hotel and restaurant was a highlight of our stay in Costa Rica. Eyal is truly a man with a genius for cooking—basically, imagine if Anthony Bourdain operated a restaurant and bed and breakfast, i.e., this isn’t the kind of place you ask for “more or less spicey”, you get what you get and what you get is amazing. Both dinners we had there (with my wife and kids) were arguably the best meals i have ever experienced. And eating and staying here is truly an experience—the birds, the howler monkeys, and Eyal himself, all come together to make this certainly the most unique place we’ve ever stayed. we were assigned the wine cellar room (?casita) which defies description in this format, but trust me it’s unique, comfortable and memorable, every touch is custom. if you don’t awaken spontaneously to the sound of howler monkeys and copious copious birds, set your alarm for 5:30 am, it’s worth it.

We stayed at Gingerbread for three nights while looking for a home to rent in the Arenal area. Our room was lovely, with murals painted on the wall and ceiling. It was very quiet. We had a private balcony with a wonderful lake view. There were birds everywhere ... tanagers, aracaris, oropendulas, jays, robins, euphonias, etc. Breakfast was served outside on the covered terrace overlooking the lake, and each day featured a different creation by Chef Eyal. The restaurant was awesome for dinner as well, we enjoyed escargots, mussels, caesar salad and ribs among many other delicious dishes. We highly recommend this B&B.
