A wonderful stay at the Lincoln hotel. We went to see Sting at Lincoln Castle the Lincoln Hotel was a perfect choice as within walking distance of the venue. Not to mention the hotel overlooks the Cathedral and gives stunning views of it. We decided at the last minute to eat in the hotel the food was top rate but i felt a bit sorry for the one lady running the whole thing however it was a tuesday night so maybe usually on weekdays they are not so busy. Breakfast was excellent and a lot more staff evident and seeing to everyone's needs so maybe the hotel had compensated for the night before. A really lovely stay. We will definitely go again.

Food/staff very good but entire building needed redecorating, new carpets, curtains, furniture, felt like going back to the 70's. Room poor, no aircon, bathroom small and dated. Overall everthing shabby and disappointing, thought would be a lot better !! Think location is the only factor that keeps this hotel going. NEEDS LOTS OF INVSTMENT !

There are 2 things i can say were great. The location and the restsurant food. Reception staff had no customer service savvy at all, restsurant staff young and hardly trained, but at least tried. The room we were given was at the back of the hotel on the top floor and resembled a broom.cupboard. Dusty, shabby, poorly lit, missing enamel on the bath, broken springs in the bed and hotter than i could beleive to be possible. We had to chase for a fan in 30 plus degree heat, told we could have one small one, and ended up having to buy another one ourselves. House keeping was lacking. The hotel has the potential to be fantastic, if they'd only renovate!

We had no issues on check in and check out, staff all very friendly. The hotel however is extremely worn, tired and dated throughout. Our room was a decent size, but needs a refurb, new carpets which were worn, bathroom showerhead was corroded and toilet seat lid was very loose. Windows were very dirty and the air-conditioning was ineffective. Our bed was ok but when layed on it went in a funny shape so i guess its lost its spring/support. We didnt have breakfast so cant comment on that. The hotel is however in a great location.

The Hotel is in a beautiful location opposite lincoln cathedral and a walk from all the attractions. The breakfast and evening meal was very good. Parking is also a bonus . Unfortunately the Hotel is in great need of a refurbishment ,the furnishings are very old worn and dirty the hall ways and curtains are in much need of a clean very dusty and smelly . The room its self was also old and worn stains on the chairs were not a pleasent sight .I was very disappointed . The staff were polite and helpful.

My husband dined alone in the evening and had fish and chips. It was terrible. May have been re heated and was burned and the fish full of water.

Stayed here a few years ago & loved the area. Staff & hotel location excellent, as was breakfast. It would have been a 5 star on all but the accessible bathroom was slippery. The shower was temperamental which made the whole bathroom floor wet & slippery. They provided a slip mat to stand on whilst showering but it still felt unsafe.Being an older hotel they had done their best upgrading but it still felt unsafe to us.

It was awful, the hotel smelt musty and dirty upon arrival. It was clearly very scruffy and needed a lot of work. We went to the room, though there was an air-conditioning unit in the room there was also a fan. Only the fan worked. The bed Didn’t have a fitted sheet on the bottom, the sheet they had put on didn’t even reach the top of the bed… I’ve never spent such an uncomfortable night in a hotel. It was too hot, I felt itchy from having direct contact with the mattress. The room also smelt very smoky although the manager did offer to move us to the room next door… Which was sweet of him. All in all, it was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in and I would never recommend to anyone. The location was good with relation to the cathedral but aside from Location, it was awful. To add insult to injury, it was the most expensive hotel that we paid for on our trip, they even told us our room was an upgrade. I hate to think what the lower graded rooms would be like.

Very nice hotel, convenient for castle and cathedral. Great garden room, bathroom could do with a little touch up. All areas look like some update was done, but more was needed. Good breakfast, gf bread and sausages. All in all I would not hesitate to stay again.

Excellent location close to the Cathedral. Very smart frontage looking towards the Cathedral with good views from dining room and bar/lounge. My room to the side of the hotel overlooked a small lane and mature trees. Wonderfully quite and able to hear the Cathedral clock chinlming throughout the day between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. For me, very restful and reassuring. Breakfast provided a very broad range of foods and certainly met all my wishes: porridge, haddock with poached egg, berry fruit and fresh yoghurt. Other choices include cold meats, cheeses, cooked food for the grand English breakfast, toasts and muffins. High performing, polite and efficient staff taking appropriate orders and clearing tables very quickly. Alas, my evening meal did not meet the standards set by the Breakfast team. Limited but friendly staff. A reasonable menu but too much novelty in presentation attempts. The Panna Cotta really should be plain, simply and wobbly. It does not need a portion of rhubarb nor a 'set' strawberry topping. If there is a desire to enhance this pudding then all that is required are a few fresh raspberries, nothing more. My room quite with an opening sash window. In an old part of the building with almost Victorian gothic ceiling which I liked. Heavy window curtains which are properly hung and effective. However, the room and ensuite do need updating. The table is stained and the shower curtain is not long enough to sit within the shower base, hence wet floor after showering.

Did not think the room I was allocated on arrival satisfactory. The member of staff I complained to dealt with my query extremely well and I was moved to a lovely room. The duty Manager also ensured that my stay would be enjoyable. Thank you to you both and the rest of the members of staff at The Lincoln.

Hotel very well sited and satisfactory, but tired in approach and decor. Needs some TLC and vitality. Ate only breakfast which was better in intent than execution.
