The Royale Senate, Race Course, falls short of the expectations one would have from a boutique hotel. While the lobby was reasonably clean, the rest of the property appeared poorly maintained. The overall layout felt unwelcoming — the staff lift is positioned before the passenger lift, giving the impression of a budget, rather than premium, setup.
Chairs were awkwardly placed in the foyer area near the lift, walls showed visible dirt and cracks in the plaster, and the overall upkeep left much to be desired. The towels provided were worn out, the bed was old with springs that had lost their resilience, and the bed sheet was not clean. To make it worse, the Internet connectivity was below average.
Breakfast was strictly vegetarian with very limited options, which might not suit all guests. On the positive side, the hotel staff were polite and humble, which was the only redeeming factor in an otherwise disappointing stay.
Overall, the property requires significant maintenance and upgrades before it can truly match the image its name suggests.
