This hotel was a nice surprise! The view we had from our balcony was amazing, and even better when we get to the rooftop terrace!!! We spent a hole day relaxing there, having a couple drinks and enjoying the view and the sun. The owner was really really kind. Restaurant at the hotel directly, the menu isn't too elaborated but the food was really good. Nice music with a good vibe. Good value for the price if you compare it to other hotel nearby. Room size was ok with a small bathroom. Basic but clean. Anyway you will spend most of your time outside the room enjoying the view instead of inside. Close by the old port stairs with the donkey but the smell was never an issue during our 2 days stay.

Hotel was hard to reach- up and down many stairs- and when I finally got there I was told they didn't have a room for us. We were both hot, very tired and stressed and that was the last thing we wanted to hear. They did switch us over to another hotel, but that required another hour of negotiation and more trips back and forth. Porto Carra never took responsibility for the error, though they did make it right in the end

Upside: the view from room facing the volcano is breathtaking.. one can enjoy the sunset and the moonrise from there. So quite romantic and relaxing view. The sunset can be beautifully accompanied with the white wine sangria at their cafe while enjoying the view. The manager Maya was extremely helpful and gave good tips on what to shop and where to go. An area in central Fira with lots of eating/ drinking/ shopping outlets and Fira tours but not noisy at night. The fira centre where buses start for tours is 10 min downhill from the hotel. Downside: The room is very basic and small. Beds are a bit springy. But that's what we read the reviews for most hotels in Fira. Wifi wasn't working during our 3 day stay here. Tip: ask the taxi/coach to drop u at Atlantis hotel (close to the main cathedral of Fira) from where it's an easier route. Our coach dropped at the wrong location and it was terrifying to tow the luggage up and down the stairs of Fira for an hour before we could find the place. Once ur at Atlantis, they send the porter to tow the luggage. Unfortunately we didn't know this.. should've called in advance to find out. Over all great for the view.
