The reception area and bar are on the second floor and are delightful. However the corridors and stairwells were shabby, dingy and unwelcoming.
The room was very basic but OK. All clean apart from the windows, where the frames were covered with mould and dirt. I wiped some off with a piece of tissue, so it is neglect of cleaning rather than staining. The mattresses were incredibly uncomfortable and lumpy which sadly meant it wasnt a great night's sleep, although it was very quiet with little noise from outside or inside the building.
The car park has plenty of spaces and is very reasonable at £2 per 24 hours. On my second night I arrived back at 2am to the main doors locked and no way to contact anyone- I tried calling reception with no answer and knocking on the door with no response. Thankfully another guest came down to smoke and let me in. Some kind of sign or doorbell would be useful if the desk staff have to step away, so guests arent left standing outside in the cold in the middle of the night.
