A wonderful hotel at a very reasonable price. Helpful staff, clean rooms, plenty of hot water, tea and coffee in the room and a breakfast included. The pictures don't do this place justice. Yes, it doesn't look as modern as other hotels, but this is part of its charm. Definitely worth a look.

Family room was spacious and interesting, offered as attic conversion. Great view. Lacked a shower. Bar area is very lived in but comfortable.

Reception staff very helpful. But it wasn’t clear enough during booking that car parking is charged at £18 overnight if not booked directly.

Restaurant food was good. Breakfast was stock continental fare. The staff were very professional and friendly. What lets it down is the decor and cleanliness. The blind in my bathroom was mouldy and it doesn’t look like the place has been decorated since the 80’s. This is even more annoying when you consider the price. I paid almost £500 for 2 standard doubles and they weren’t worth half that. Would go again but only after a major revamp.

Great location, easy to find and nice relaxed hotel

The room was cold. I was outside at 1am for 2 minutes knocking on the door. I had to wait for 40 minutes at 1 am for the booking to show in their system.

Hotel a bit tired. Everything there, and busy, so one or two more staff would have helped.

Overall a very pleasant hotel with modern decor. Did not provide free car parking because we booked through Hotel.com. No lift and quite steep staircases. Had to ask twice for decaf tea bags for the room. Minor defects in room included bathroom door lock not working, shower door not quite closing, TV only tuned for some freeview channels - not all. Only provided continental breakfast in price which was adequate. Benefit was overlooking the river Cam with a quick walk across the green into the city centre.
