Daruma Guesthouse is very nice place to stay when in Takayama! It's nearby the station and Nohi Bus terminal to Shirakawago. It's nearby Honmachi street. One of the main street in Takayama. This guesthouse is very clean, cozy, and Hide (the owner) is very helpful also has great english. I think he has many experiences to manage the hotel/guesthouse. He explain all the tourist attraction in takayama and will recommend the best place to visit. The toilet is really clean. Feels like home.
