The the staff were amazing. We couldn’t fault anything. On arrival we checked in at reception to be greeted with our room information and all information relevant to the hotel such as parking and food. We were shown to our room which was lovely very comfortable bed and the shower was amazing. We popped over for dinner and had our son and grandson join us. Our grandson has a peanut allergy. They took this on board and catered for all of us. Dinner was a delight. We stayed here last year when visiting our son in Northumberland, but stayed somewhere else after. On choosing a hotel for this visit, this one one hands down for the friendly, staff clean room and fabulous food. Thank you

My second stay at the Portland Hotel, Ashington and once again, they excelled. Staff could not be more friendly and welcoming (Jess and the guy behind the bar, sorry I forgot your name) looked after me very well. Room (I stayed in one of the rooms out back in the purpose built rooms) was lovely. Great to have a fridge in the room and a very comfy bed. Kept beautifully clean (Thanks housekeeping) and contained everything a traveller could want in a hotel room. Desk space, plenty of power sockets - I’m a very large bloke (six foot six inches tall) and struggled to get my legs under the desk but that’s MY problem, not the Portland Hotel. It certainly didn’t stop me working 👍 Food in the pub / restaurant was great. Good sized portions and well cooked. Speedy service too. The Portland Hotel has now become my ‘go to’ hotel whenever I’m back in the North East. Book direct for special deals! (Ask for Kaliffa or Mack)

Room was clean and well appointed. Food plentiful, lots of choice and well Prepared. The staff were outstanding - looking forward to being back next week

The evening meal was delicious. Mac was a brilliant host, very helpful. The rooms were nice and clean, however my room was very warm at night even with no radiator and window open. Breakfast was not the quality of the evening dinner. Felt more slap/dash.

room clean and fresh. only worry is the bathroom, when sitting on toilet the sink is almost on your knees. Staff in bar are very good, the breakfast is very good big portions keep you going all day, the waiter asks what would you like and it is brought freshly cooked and delivered to you.

Very friendly staff. Lovely room. Fairtrade hot drinks! Watch out for £10 / night secure parking charge and for busy restaurant at the pub. Can recommend Glenton's bakery next door for breakfast and lunch items. Overall excellent value .
