Peaceful serenity and phenomenal hosts! I have traveled extensively for a living all my life and must say that the Bald Mountain House offers what most places fail to. The comfort is excellent, the breakfast is five stars (I’m a foodie), and the owners are simply amazing people! The drive and nearby mountains offer endless opportunities to whisk yourself into a healthy and therapeutic serenity that is unparalleled.

Monica and Tony run a lovely B&B. The room was delightful and quite comfortable. And Monica’s breakfast, mmm.............delicious! The house is in a very quiet location with beautiful views. Sitting on the porch watching the wildlife is a pleasure. Aside from all the birds, there were turkey and deer. All in all, it was a very relaxing stay and I highly recommend Bald Mountain House

This true bed and breakfast was in a beautiful secluded location looking out over the mountains. We saw deer, turkeys, a groundhog, chipmunks and goldfinches on and near the property. Everything was very nice -- the bedroom was pretty, comfortable and quiet and had a nice sitting area. There was a frig stocked with drinks as well as a living room and dining room with a Keurig machine and homemade cookies. Monica was a wonderful hostess and cook. Every restaurant she steered us to was excellent, and the (huge) breakfast she made for us every morning was just wonderful. Really, it couldn't have been nicer. Also, the location was very close to the Appalachian Trail, and staying at this B&B gave us access to the private AT access at Wolf Laurel. Ten minutes down the trail was a non-strenuous walk to the top of Big Bald, with 360 degree views of the Blue Ridge mountains. (If we had used to public access, it would have been a strenuous 5 mile walk). Finally, being up high at 5500 feet made it 15 degrees cooler than down in Asheville, which made a big difference in the heat! And yet still convenient to I-26 and towns around the area.

What happens when you mix a professional chef with an amazing house in a gorgeous location on the side of a mountain just north of a great city? Major joy! From the hospitality to very helpful recommendations for day hikes to an incredibly ample and gourmet breakfast, this place is one to which we'd like to return.... soon! The room we had faced the mountain side and the sound of the brook was relaxing. On the porch, we could see several mountains with Mt Mitchell in the distance. Lots of deer, turkeys and many birds and chipmunks grace the property as well. Fresh baked oversized chocolate chip cookies are available all day as well as coffee. A fridge had drinks, too. The sheets and towels and bar of soap make you feel like you're at the Biltmore!

A bit remote on the mountain but a wonderful and serene getaway! A little wildlife, birds and a brook nearby make for a calm relaxing experience on the porch. We highly recommend it.

Great stay! Especially if you are going skiing/snowboarding at Wolf Laurel. It is only about 5 minutes away from the slopes. The breakfast is amazing!!! They have a bunch of bird feeders, so there are so many beautiful birds. They also feed the deer, so you will probably see about 100. It was wonderful! Just make sure you have 4 wheel drive if you go during the winter. They will give you a ride to the house if you have 2 wheel drive, but it is $25 for each way (25$ to the house and $25 back to your car- even though it's about a 2 minute drive). It's a small, but very nice place.

Decided on a last minute Asheville get away and Bald Mountain House at the Wolf Laurel Resort came up early in our search results. WHAT A FIND!! It is the highest elevation B&B in NC (maybe the US), so getting there is a trick, but it is SO worth it! Monica is a WONDERFUL proprietress and chef. The rooms are each unique with tons of extra details. AND she has Doxies! All around TERRIFIC weekend and will be going again in the Spring!!

Anyone who stays elsewhere while visiting this part of US will be missing out.We decided to head up here to wait out hurricane Irma. Our stay was truly amazing. Monica is a great host and Tony makes sure everything is running perfectly in the background. We showed up early but that was not an issue at all. We had freshly baked cookies welcoming us. The breakfasts were spectacular and we, along with the other guests - our extended hurrication family, were spoiled for choice & quantity. Food was irresistible and family-like setting made it easy to feel at home even during these difficult circumstances. The tap water comes from a mountain spring and is amazing to drink and shower in. We emptied out purchased bottled water and filled the bottles up with this tap water. The handmade soap using only natural ingredients was a great touch. Watching humming birds and warblers fight for food at the bird feeders was very entertaining and we also saw deer and wild turkeys every day. The location is truly spectacular and proximity & access to the Appalachian Trail is unmatched. We will definitely visit again and I would not hesitate to recommend Bald Mountain House at the Wolf Laurel Resort to family & friends.

We cannot say enough about this awesome B&B. Location, rooms, atmosphere, and last, but certainly not least, the breakfasts were outstanding. You get the best of everything: accommodations and location. You're out in the country and can hike on the Appalachian Trail, or in 15' drive to shopping and restaurants in Asheville. Outstanding!
