Nice clean room in a convenient location. Close to various city noises (I think there was a giant trash compaction nearby) that banged on past midnight and started again around 6am. May also have to contend with noisy students carousing very late (like 2:30am). Key stopped working early despite reassurance it wouldn't (but was fixed quickly). Desk doesn't always have a person but they will show up within 1-2 mins on call. Staff are super-friendly. Overall would consider staying again but be prepared for sleep being disrupted.

All fine with the place in terms of location, cleanliness, facilities and staff courtesy. Minor points: No on site reception a bit annoying necessitating use of intercom and a lengthy wait for someone to attend when needed. TV remote missing from room. Street noise excessive all night long. My first floor front of building room should have had double glazing at least. I checked out after one night.

The room was very cramped, the bathroom shower stall was broken, and the location was very noisy.

The beds were comfortable and several thoughtful amenities were included, such as L’Occitaine bath products and a towel warmer. The challenges are the city center location and the age of the building. Parking is only nearby and quite expensive, and you will likely drive through a paid congestion zone. You have until the day after to pay on the council website, then fees increase. The building itself is elderly but the owners have done their best to ‘silk purse’ it. Expect odd corners and dicey plumbing: we had to change rooms because our first shower fully flooded into the bathroom. There is no elevator/lift, only stairs. The stairs are steep and slightly uneven. There is no staff member manning the desk, but they come quickly and are kind and helpful when contacted. The price is fine for the product, and it’s probably a good option if you don’t have a car and want a central location.

I really liked it. Lots of stairs so be aware if you have big bags. But safe, cozy, really comfortable beds and super great location. Yes it is abit old but honestly many big hotel chains charge double -triple and are also old looking so great for the price and it was super clean and tidy.

Cheaply converted office block now looking tired. Room too hot with no way to control temperature. Shower drainage inadequate for volume of water. Toilet roll holder missing!

Room I got was perfectly fine, much better than I expected from the reviews. However, there was no help in lugging the baggage around and climbing the steps with luggage is hard work. I think that this could be greatly improved simply but offering assistance.

Rooms are dated. Location is great but that was what you are paying for, not a high quality nice room.

The location is wonderful but, the stairs were a bit daunting. The room heater was not working but the efficient space heater worked and the towel heater worked well

Staff were very nice. Good location if you want to be in the town centre of Oxford. Room was clean. Not 4 star in my opinion I'm afraid. Unfortunately for me the room was next to a main road and extremely noisy on a Saturday night. You will need earplugs on a weekend I think.

There was no way of turning off the main light in the room, with the switches not working. When I reported this to reception they said the only way to deal with this was for me to use the switch on the fuse box each time I wanted to turn it on or off, which also involved me standing on a stool to do this, in the dark for half the time. I don't think this is an acceptable situation in a hotel room, and yet the hotel would not even consider any kind of reimbursement for this
