A delightful escape that feels like your own villa. With the lake and the forests you can forget about big city stresses and relax. It's grand and festive with great food and friendly and helpful staff. All the details have been well thought out making for an effortless experience with little personalized touches.

It was very comfortable, the staff was extremely friendly and the place is decorated exceptionally, a very pleasant stay .

Amazing gem and one of a kind hotel!

On first arriving outside the property don’t panic as through the gate you enter a different world; a peaceful piece of electric & ethnic designer heaven with the property slightly elevated from the surrounding lake with greenery & nature all around. The service provided is excellent & always with a smile. One small criticism is there are some minor maintenance jobs that are outstanding & could do with attending to in order to secure a 5* review when comparing to other small luxury hotels of that standard. But having said that we will return to the property & would thoroughly recommend it. The photographs shown on the various websites give a good impression of the property. However the true experience excels. Tuk tuks are a plenty for nearby local transport.

Amazing stay on our first night in Sri Lanka. We arrived early and room was ready 2 hours earlier than the expected time of 2 hours. A great place to chill out, we had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and the food was excellent. Kind helpful staff who couldn’t do enough for us

One of the most extraordinary homes I have stayed in. owned by an amazing artist who designed both the structure and the interior. Located right on the lake it is a beautiful spot full of wildlife.

I fell in love as soon as I booked it but when I actually checked in I was thrown back!! This house is a true gem, walking in through the gate you don’t see the house right away so I was second guessing my choice. It’s a hidden gem and a true paradise. I was so impressed from the design to the staff to the service just overall amazing. Highly recommend it. they also own the restaurant before you enter the gate which has more food options so dining there was also great. Breakfast was wow!! Trust me 5 star indeed!!

Amazingly decorated place - love it all. Huge home that has been converted to a small hotel. In a very quiet area. Great recommendations for food places - thanks. Staff are very relaxed and quite chilled. Room was adequate - comfy bed . Far too hot with mossie net lowered - even with fan and aircon on the room is quite warm making for restless sleep. Also organised a tour of the city for us.

Amazing stay-what a beautiful respite from the hubbub of Colombo! Amazing little retreat-a little far from city center but this isn’t a bad thing. Would definitely come back here! Food and service were amazing and room was impeccable!

We stayed at the aathma at the beginning and end of our trip, the king suite with balcony first and the deluxe suite in the main building last, both rooms are of a very high standard and we throughly enjoyed our stay. An esquisite retreat in everyway, so much so that we want to live there! Samir I love you! X

We had a wonderful stay at Aathma Hotel. The Sri Lankan breakfast was amazing, and the hotel was beautifully decorated. Book this hotel!

We arrived in Colombo and our driver from the hotel was waiting for us with a big smile on his face. We went straight to Aathma (means soul in Sanskrit and boy did it have soul!!) From the second we arrived the second we left, we felt welcomed, at home, and so at peace with the beautiful surroundings of architecture, nature and people. The owners Dushy, Niyo & Samir were so special to deal with. Their lovely natures and welcoming vibe made us feel at home straight away at Aathma. The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, there was not 1 thing missing from this place. The food was out of this world!! I am a chef and I'm not usually blown away by food but this food blew me away. Was healthy, fresh and perfectly filling. Our stay was A+ and we will be back. We loved every minute of our time there so thank you, thank you, thank you for being such wonderful hosts and sharing your hotel with us!!

Hotel magnifique, vrai paradis vegetal au milieu de la ville. Personnel tres acceuiilant et a l ecoute Nous avons tres bien mangé (diner + petit dejeuner), les cocktails sont bons aussi Notre seul regret est de ne pas etre restes plus longtemps

Endroit totalement magique en plein cœur de Colombo, vue sur le lac, maison d’une femme indienne créatrice de mode et décoratrice. L établissement est tenu par sa fille et son gendre, jeune couple d une trentaine d’annee adorable qui se plient en 4 pour faire de votre séjour un moment inoubliable N hésitez pas à les contacter, même si toutes les chambres semblent occupées, ils garde 2 chambres hors norme à la location....
