Superb breakfast. Close to Sarlat but steep walk back.

Slightly out of the town centre, but within walking distance and did all the basics really well.

Overall, it was a pleasant base for our three-day trip to Dordogne. Our lovely host, Christine, was welcoming and helpful in recommending places to visit and restaurants to try, and the breakfast she prepared was delicious. The room was clean and functional.

This place is great, beautiful all around. I will be back. If you´re going by train, do call Christine, the owner, in advance. If she can, she will pick you up at la gare. Otherwise you have to download Sarlat´s taxi cab application before going, because there is no Uber nor a normal taxi service in town. Walking to the hotel from the Centre Ville will take around 10 minutes and it´s uphill. From la gare...maybe 20... but with luggage it can be hard. Ohh! Do sign up for breakfast and Christine´s amazing brownies and listen carefully to her recommendations. She really knows her region and will advise you wisely.

Beautiful hotel with a gorgeous view. Great location for touring the stunning villages of the Dordogne. The room was spacious and comfortable. Staff was very helpful. I have already recommended this property to another couple.

It was clean and nice but quite expensive especially with breakfast not included. Free parking but a little walk down the hill to the town

Could not have been happier with our hotel choice. Yes it’s up an incline, 7 minutes down, 15 back up but it’s worth it. Christina, the owner, could not have done any more, she is a fantastic tour guide and offered great recommendations on where to eat. Rooms are decent size and the pool are is great.

A little bit of a walk into town, but a lovely place, with a wonderful pool and delightful hostess. It felt more like a B&B than a hotel.

What a wonderful experience! The room was very European, not like a large room in an American chain hotel. The location was perfect for us as it was peaceful and surrounded by nature, but a short walk into the historic district. The walk is up and down a somewhat steep hill. The highlight of our stay was our host, Christine, who was informative, kind, helpful, and full of energy. Since we don’t speak French, we appreciated Christine’s English skills in both speaking and understanding. We stayed three nights, but we wish it could have been longer!

Used the hotel for an overnight stay en route to Spain. Will certainly be back for a longer visit. A lovely hotel, spotlessly clean, in beautiful surroundings. Christina made us feel very welcome. A great breakfast, complete with local produce and homemade walnut cake.

A particularly comfortable stay in a beautiful location. Very friendly owner and an excellent breakfast. Easy walk to centre of town with large selection of restaurants for dinner. Strongly recommended.

Great location for walking into sarlat, lovely secluded stone building surrounded by trees, very nice breakfast, clean, spacious comfortable room. I highly recommend.

The best possible experience. Beautiful property, large, comfortable room, outstanding swimming pool and lounge-dining/areas. It was the perfect quiet refuge just a 10 minute hike into bustling Sarlat. Christine could not have been a more helpful or professional host. We will recommend Hotel Bon Encontre to all without hesitation and hope to return.

Well placed, walking distance from the city center. But the most outstanding is the hospitality when checking in by the reception staff, immediately you feel at home ! Excellent service and staff !
