Beautiful hotel in renovated 17th century palace. Room is huge with comfortable bed and large bathroom. Beautiful courtyard. Buffet breakfast had lots of options!

The hotel was good. It was in the historical city centre. Its location was the most important advantage of this hotel. The breakfast was more satisfying than many other hotels in Italy.

I loved this hotel! The staff were welcoming and helpful, and keen to give information about the town. The hotel is in a quiet side street but has some good restaurants nearby and is only two minutes' walk from the main square. My room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good, too

A very central hotel with excellent facilites and a lovely courtyard. The breakfast was good but the coffee poor. When the Italians rightly pride themselves on their coffee why do they persist in providing a substandard product?

Ok hotel in the heart of the city. Conveniently located, clean with a pleasant staff but nothing special.

Location was good; ability to park useful; staff very helpful; (getting us a table for Saturday night (not easy). Our only issue was being on the top floor (3rd) meant we only had velux windows (so no view) and the mattress was fairly hard and slightly uncomfortable. But overall a nice place to stay.

Hotel is in an excellent location within walking distance of many sights and restaurants. Room has lots of character and is quite large and clean. Wonderful breakfast and courtyard is perfect for relaxing. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location, pleasant staff who were very helpful. Let down by poor decor, so-so breakfast and lack of decent shower curtain system which meant the floor could have got very wet if we hadn't noticed the potential problem first!

The hotel is tucked away in an alley from the main square and is very nice. The room was quite spacious and well-appointed, the bed was large and comfortable, the wifi worked great, the staff was very friendly & accommodating, and the breakfast was excellent. The area is the tourist center of the town and there are many great restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel. There was no downside.

We travelled to Ferrara out of holiday season so it was a city of local people. The hotel is right in the centre of Ferrara and has friendly and helpful staff. This made finding our way around Ferrara a joy. Overall a small but very pleasant hotel. As normal, don't holiday in Italy during the "holiday season" unless you like shuffling through crowds of "Gee Whizz" ignorant Americans and English.

Ferrara was and excellent place to visit. The ride around the city wall is great. The cuisine and architecture were a delight. This hotel was perfectly located and the staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay and after when we left a wallet behind at the hotel. We are thankful for their assistance.

The Hotel Corte Estense was an excellent choice for both location and the facilities. Our room was outstanding and hotel offered a genuine flavor of Italy. My only comment was that the staff was not as friendly as I have experienced elsewhere, but they were very helpful in all regards. John and Vivi

It was fantastic. One of the few places that serve breakfast early. So if you are planning on leaving early you still get your paid breakfast. Staff were friendly and overall a great experience

A very good place to visit Ferrara and its historical highlights. The hotel is 2min from the piazza where lots of people meet every evening. Not too many tourists – because, as GWB would have said: Ferrara is still "misunderestimated" among the cultural treasures of Italy. If you plan to visit the region for a week or longer, Ferrara (and this hotel) is the optimal place: it takes 1-2 hours to all the more famous places like Venice, Padova, Bologna, Vicenza, even Rimini – but prices are considerably lower in Ferrara. So, its the best place to live and start daily excursions to the other cities around even by train (i.e. no hastle with parking and highway traffic). Only "disadvantage": the Hotel is a "looong" 10 and 15 minutes walk (luckily in the same direction) away from 2 of the best Gelaterie (ice makers) I know in the norther half of Italy: La Romana and Gelateria Ariosto – and I know and tested a few hundred of them in 25 years ;-)

I arrived at 9 a.m. I had night train for 8 hrs, really exhausted. The lady at reception first told me I can check in at 1 p.m, but while I was preparing my bags to leave with them, she made few phone calls and asked their cleaning crew to make my room ready. In 20 minutes I was at my room taking shower. That was priceless and I am grateful. Location is great with easy access to everything. Breakfast has everything for all tastes. I would strongly recommend this hotel.
