Not at all as advertised. It shows up as a 4 star hotel. Instead imagine an old short-term rental studio with a confusing check-in and zero assistance. No front desk, no person to help. We got in and there were 4 packets with 4 different room keys sitting on a desk. Which room was ours? No clue. There were no names on the packets. I tried calling the number listed multiple times but no answer. So we picked a random room. Our family who arrived several hours before us had the same experience. Did we get rooms we paid for? Who knows. The room is really old. Door to the hallway doesn't close all the way with a single questionable lock. Doors to the windows and bathroom also don't close all the way. Only shampoo in the shower (no soap), two single towels. The daytime high was only 70 but without AC the room was really warm and too warm for us to sleep well. Had I booked a short-term rental half the price I would have been OK with all of this. But I booked what I thought was a 4 start hotel. Really disappointed and wishing I had spent half the amount I paid.

Location could not be beat and it's so cool to stay in an old castle! Everything was comfortable. The perfect place for our 24 hours in Genoa!

Really interesting place. Very large room tall ceilings with a fan. My room had two beds but I was a single booking. The place is hard to find not a hotel more like airbnb rental. Lady incharge of check-in knew zero English but the process was simple enough as was check out. Very good value for money but I was in early summer season.

4 day visit to Genoa and surrounding area. The Palazzo Cicala is situated a 5 minute walk from San Giorgio metro. Access to apartment complex by door code at street entrance. I stayed two nights in basic apartment € 75 and two nights in superior apartment € 111. Both rooms spacious, small fridge, coffee machine. Room windows face out onto small square. Beds comfortable. I thought it was reasonable value for money given the excellent location.

There was nobody there when we arrived. They had not sent us the key less entry code and I had to call back to the USA for it. The rooms had missing lights/non working lights. The bathrooms were a joke and dirty. There was no staff to talk too and I was over charged for an extra room that I never booked for.

This is not a hotel as advertised. Not cheap Self service 2star room rental maximum. You are on your own. The maids tried very hard to answer our questions and were very friendly. Clean room but flawed design. Bathroom was not a private space but had transparent, useless glass doors!

Beautiful rooms in ancient building. Right in front of the San Lorenzo cathedral. Great for walking in Genoa. Friendly and helpful staff spoke English.

Charming and by American standards a little odd. Loved the room and the location right In the heart of the old city. The manager was very nice and helpful. Pointed us to great restaurant nearby. Genoa is quite a cool place wish we could stay longer.

Wonderful Hotel in perfect location near city center, but still in a calm area. It is more kind of a Bed and Breakfast than a Hotel. I can recommend renting a suite. Very spacious and amazing view. But unfortunately it has a very small shower, compared to the big and nice bathroom. Overall a great pleace to stay. Wifi is fast and works well.

A bit hard to find but definitely worth the search. Be prepared to park in a lot and carry your luggage several blocks. Awesome experience staying in such a quaint atmosphere.

It is an amazing ancient palace that was all renovated with a very modern and minimalist style. I loved the decor and how they renewed it. Looks coming out from a magazine! It has, however, narrow elevators and accesses to rooms, toilet flushes are extremely noisy and you can't sleep in the morning as you hear everyone else flushing, and the location, although it is very central, can only be reached walking (need to park a couple of streets away) and at night it is quite daunting to get there, through narrow and dark streets full of homeless and weird people.

Hotel can be a little hard to find, but just go to Piazza de San Lorenzo, stand in front of the Cathedral and look just to your right across plaza and you will see sign at ground level over in the corner. Ring buzzer next to sign. Very old building in good shape, you have to take elevator to the next floor up to get to reception. 1st floor in Europe, what we would call 2nd floor in USA. Rooms are huge, some baths are small, some large, 14' ceilings and breakfast overlooking plaza and cathedral. Great neighborhood to explore Genoa from, close to everything but rail stations. And taxis are not allowed up Via de San Lorenzo, so you have to walk a short way up or down to get to plaza, but I did see some taxis come in, so just ask. Staff is very friendly and helpful and spoke English.

Arrived at hotel by car only to find the hotel is not accessible by car (and that gps does not work well in the area). Had to trudge suitcases across two piazzas to find the location. It is in an old historic building which is nice, and if that is your main criteria for a hotel then it is a "maybe". It seems like it is run by people who have never run a hotel before. The shower in our room was not finished construction, the bath towels were tea towels, there was no shampoo/toiletries, and the staff were not knowledgeable about either Genova or the area around it. The breakfast was marginal and they ran out of bread and had to send the lady who was serving breakfast out to get more bread, leaving other guests arriving for breakfast totally confused about what was going on for breakfast.

Stayed a night at this hotel in November. The double room we booked in the main building was just as pictured, clean and spacious. The staff was nice and willing to help. There were no towels at first, but they were quickly found when we asked. Also as soon as we checked in, the heating was turned on. Breakfast was alright, although make sure you come early as the chance is there may be no room for everyone. The main drawback was the tiny shower cabin where the only shower head is fixed to the ceiling and therefore water inevitably pours on your head even if you don't want it...

Hotel staff was diligent and corteous, however maintenance was not good. Chair cover with dirt spot, the watercloset cover has its hinges broked and fall all the time, however we receive it with the cover in its place, and when you attemp to open it.... Voila there is the surprise. Same thing happen with the sanitary paper roll holder, it was hanging from a side of the towell hanger. Price was according with what is it, but this kind of stupid details not being cared degraded the Staff efforts.

Was fun to open the door to my room in this old palazzo, and see the huge ceilings and large double windows which opened onto a courtyard. The wifi in my room wasn't working, so that was a disappointment, and breakfast wasn't included either, unfortunately. The large room was divided up a bit to make room for a bathroom and shower, and it was plenty big enough for me, who was traveling alone.
