The property is old building with high portico. The furnishings are old but that is reminiscent of the past and can be charming. The single room was a good size with high ceilings and the sheets and towels all cotton, but the first impression is horrible. The entrance and all common areas have a dreadful, stained carpet that immediately give you a bad impression, maintenance is an issue. Loose floors, broken, missing knobs, unkempt furniture, moldy shower curtains. General impression, poor, unsafe and shabby.

Great location but hotel was outdated and required refurbishment. Single rooms were dark with tiny windows. Communal area needed a bar area.

Let's start with the good stuff: the location of the hotel. It is just off the Via d'Independenzia and not too far from the Neptune Fountain, so it is pretty central. Of course, that does mean it is about a 20 minute walk to the railway station. There seems to be a great restaurant in the street, judging by the length of the queues. I found the nearest supermarket to be a ten minute walk. The staff at reception were extremely friendly and helpful; they were able to speak English well. I had a budget single room with no natural light coming into the room, so this made it quite gloomy. The bed was comfortable. For a single room, it was of good size. There was a bedside cabinet, a large wardrobe with safe, a table on which was the television, and an easy chair. The room was carpeted. Of importance, in the summer, there is air-conditioning in the room. The en-suite bathroom was up a step and had a combined bidet and shower. The bathroom had a tiled floor. A big drawback of the hotel is its single small lift - allow plenty of time for your journey! Breakfast was an extra ten euros and I decided not to take that option. There is also a tourist tax in addition to your bill. I think it's adequate for a day, but I wouldn't want to stay longer, although I did, unfortunately!

This is an old hotel in a central part of town. Overall it was a pleasant stay. The main downside is that (probably due to old pipes or whatever) there was a frequent banging sound from the pipes that were right next to the bed in my room, waking me up multiple mornings. When I tried to tell the receptionist about it, cut me off with one explanation after another ("it's the theater next door!" "oh, it's the trams!"), and then seemed rather dismissive when I told him what it really was. He claimed he would "ask maintenance", but of course nothing changed (nor is it clear anything could). Also, some of the desk staff were super friendly, some were pretty indifferent. The breakfast was standard for Italy, nothing exceptional but not a bad way to start the day. I would stay here again for the location and convenience, but make sure to ask for a room w/out noisy pipes!

Nice period hotel in a perfect location for visiting the city sights. Staff were friendly, and it is a real journey back in time to stay here. The rooms were massive and felt more like a huge cabin on the Titanic rather than a hotel. Feels a bit dated and in need of a fresh coat of paint in places but it oozed old achool character and was quite an experience overall. Recycling facilities were brilliant which was great to see

The rooms were big with an old world charm. It was located in the heart of the old city surrounded by historic buildings and transportation. The staff was very attentive and provided us with maps and relevant tourist information. Could use some remodeling.

Shabby chic. I could feel the springs through the top of the mattress. I had no hot water for the duration of my stay despite mentioning it to reception. 9am breakfast on Sunday seem to catch them by surprise as food ran out and was not replenished. However, the building is a lovely period edifice and the staff charming, if, in the case of the hot water, ineffective. It needs a refurb I wouldn't stay there again until it's had one.

This stay is part of a longer trip. The hotel is excellent. Luggage room if you arrive early as we did. Location is in the old area so a 5 min walk to piazza magiorre and the tourist information office. Breakfast was included and it was great. All in all, wish I’d have booked a longer stay.

This hotel is very close by to the plaza as well as lots of different places to dine. They had their own parking garage which was nice. The lobby was clean, and the staff were friendly. The things we did not like was that our room was right above a movie theater so we could hear the movie while we were sleeping. The shower would not drain the water well and there was a fan in the room that didn't work. We didn't stay here long so it wasn't an issue for us but for others, I could see these being a little disappointing. It was in a great location. The property did not communicate with us prior to our stay unlike all other properties we stayed at in Italy. Although, it was easy to check in, it would have been nice to have more communication.
