The rooms were poorly ventilated as the windows were covered to make a bathroom inside the room only divided by glass panels. The only windows were to the hallway outside. Very unhealthy and poor design

Extremely good service from all the staff. Great location for restaurants and access to Old Funchal. There are two downsides. 1st, parking is beyond extremely challenging - as in “Good Luck Finding Parking less than 1km away.” 2nd, This is the main reason why I would not choose a place calling itself a boutique hotel. The rooms, beds, washrooms, are extremely old and uncomfortable - not what you expect a boutique hotel to be. As a recommendation, the Hotel can inprove by simple replacing all the mattresses with premium ones and simple changing everything in the room white as the current colors inside are similar to a 1970’s basement apartment. The washroom need renovations and something as simple as new comfortable toilets and modern hardware would make them incredible.

I am shocked that this hotel has 4 stars. The design is tired, wallpaper instead of tiles, needs a paint job. We had a room with a view of an interior staircase, so no light and fresh air. The water from the shower leaked into the room due to poor installation. We told the reception but we're not offered a discount.

The hotel staff were very friendly. The highlight was the rooftop bar where we watched the sunset. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The room unfortunately did not have good sound insulation and we could hear people from next door and also loud bangs whenever doors are closed.

This is my fourth time to Madeira but first time staying at this property . I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to others . Very convenient, walking distance. They have a bar at the 5th floor “ you can use your welcome drink ticket there “ .

A quirky arty hotel with a terrific breakfast and staff serving it, but the room sadly was average at best. The room (303) we had was soulless, limited views (no issue) but the most concerning issue was that the temperature of the water in the shower was both erratic and at times scolding hot. When asked to check it, the reception told us the engineer had looked at it and it was deemed ok. It certainly wasn’t the very next day. Scolding hot and chilling cold water. On telling the receptionist again they informed us no engineers work on a Sunday. Hotels have issues, how they deal with it speaks volumes. Sadly this one left us disappointed.

The property is in good condition and the room, which the hotel kindly upgraded us to, was clean, spacious and bright. It was done in a minimalist design which was fine with us. However more hooks could be installed which would make it more user friendly. The breakfast was really good and the staff excellent. We definitely would stay there again. Recommended!

The staff at Se Boutique are amazing. I was sick after eating bad mussels at a local restaurant. And the staff did everything possible to attend to my needs. The maid helped with water, the front desk provided me with food options, etc. Also, the live fado music on the upstairs terrace is not to be missed. Property and rooms clean and well maintained. And property is centrally located. Great place to stay, and if I return to Madeira, would again stay! Thank you!

On Halloween, they even gave us candies. The rooms are really spacious. I would enjoy having a window with more daylight, but since it’s just for the night, it’s not a big issue. The spa is really a quiet and nice place, perfect after a day of hiking. Breakfast has a good variety of products and is of good quality

When I return to Madeira, I will definitely stay at SBH. The location is amazing and the staff is top notch!

Very central and close to plentiful restaurants, public transport etc. Rooftop opens at 2pm.
