My colleague and I checked in at 11 PM, having just arrived in Yogyakarta at that time. The staff was very helpful and the hotel was generally okay, but when we checked into our requested non-smoking room, it smelled strongly of cigarettes. We immediately complained to the front desk, but because the hotel was fully occupied, we couldn't be moved that night. The next day, upon returning to the hotel, we noticed that guests on the same floor were openly smoking in their rooms, and their rooms also smelled strongly of cigarettes. Our room was still cleaned afterward, and we were eventually moved to a different, better room that didn't smell of cigarettes. We were relieved by the staff's quick and accommodating response, but it's a shame that the non-smoking rooms aren't being given the same attention. Also, drivers often sit in front of the main entrance near the lobby, smoking—quite a nuisance for my colleague and me. But the hotel's location is truly unbeatable. We'll be back next time, and hopefully we can try the food on our next trip.
