It is OK. It has a nice location but the hotel is in great need of renovation and modern upgrading. The air in hallways and room was musty probably due to fungus in walls and carpets.

I really enjoyed my time at this stately hotel. The staff are beyond helpful, the room was very comfortable, and the baths were just what I needed after a long day exploring the region. The restaurant was able to accommodate my gluten-free needs for breakfast and the shuttle bus from Motohakone was great. This is a region that needs to be experienced and this is the place to do it in comfort.

The view from the room is beautiful. Good experience with the public bath onsen, first time for my son, he enjoyed it. Great staff, very nice and polite.
Loved everything except the noise from the bath tub and sink.

Awesome onsen and beautiful garden. Nice location next to Lake Aishi with a good restaurant and nice little shop. Room was ok, but purposely didn't spend much time in there. Would stay again.

The stay went very well. The sights and scenery were elite and remarkable. The food service was well put together and efficient. I appreciated that the hotel works with a luggage delivery service and helped make the stay a little more convenient apart from trying to send the luggage to Narita airport the day before we left and they were unable to. The hotel and the room were beautiful and the view from the room was great

Hotel room has a good view facing lake and is clean. The breakfast is very limited. It is hard to get around, very hard to call a taxi. The hotel has a shuttle bus to bus station.

After two nights, I was so sad to leave at the end of my stay and wished I had booked at least one more night. I hope to return soon!

Overall very nice stay , very beautiful garden .
We stayed 45years ago . One thing we didn’t like about is Japanese Breakfast and European breakfast were served in a different room so , there are no flexibility for choice. We had to choose one or the other before you go . And like set of bento box . Never experienced before .

This is a very luxurious hotel with a nice onsen. Beautiful gardens and incredible view of Mt Fuji if you are on the garden side which I think on the rooms are facing the garden and lake. Nice paths through the trees to the shrine and “downtown” area but don’t plan a run, it’s made of cobblestone type bricks so your ankles would suffer. Shuttle to/from downtown every 20 minutes if you don’t want to walk.

Hotel was excellent. I was shocked to find I had booked for 1 Adult and was asked to pay a supplement for my wife. This was A$495 for the 3 nights.
This was a 2 week trip will all rooms booked on Hotels.com.
This is the first time HOTELS.com had a 1 person room...
not the fault of Hotel de Yama but annoying and expensive

The hotel is nice and on the higher end. The grounds are magnificent and the view to the lake is wonderful. In a nice day (which we had) you can see Fuji mountain clearly from the terrace. The only downsides were the bar with a bit of a gloomy vibe and a lack of a snack shop (as there is nothing open in the evening within walking distance from the hotel). Overall a great stay and I hope to return there in the future.

For such a big hotel it's shocking they don't have any laundry service. Also the price is a bit high for the age and condition of the hotel.
