This was our second stay at Novotel Palembang within the past year, and based on our previous positive experience, we immediately chose the Suite Room again for our visit from 23–28 May.
As always, the ambiance was pleasant and relaxing. We particularly enjoyed the small terrace overlooking the garden, which added a peaceful touch to our stay. The suite was spacious and generally clean. While housekeeping was responsive whenever assistance was requested, a more thorough routine cleaning—especially in the bathroom and particularly the living room area, which we often used for family prayers—would make the experience even better.
A few small amenities could also be improved. The suite accommodates up to four guests, yet only two drinking glasses were provided, and we could not find additional ones in the kitchen drawers. Likewise, while the kitchenette was useful, dishwashing soap was not initially available. It was promptly provided upon request, although a sponge would have been helpful as well.
As we were traveling with our elderly mother like before, we found the bed height somewhat challenging for her. We understand that bed preferences vary among guests, but a slightly lower bed height may be more comfortable and accessible for many Indonesian guests, particularly senior citizens. We have shared this suggestion previously and hope it may be considered in future room designs or renovations.
Another small maintenance point concerns the handheld shower in the bathroom. During our stay, the shower holder was not securely installed and frequently slipped from its position. While we managed to fix it ourselves, it would be helpful if such fixtures were checked carefully before guest arrival to avoid inconvenience.
Despite these observations, we continue to enjoy staying at Novotel Palembang and look forward to returning. The rooms are comfortable, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff consistently provide excellent service.
We would also like to see further enhancement of the restaurant offerings, particularly with regard to local Palembang and Indonesian cuisine. A wider variety of local dishes and fresh fruits and juices would enrich the dining experience and better showcase the region's culinary heritage.
Special appreciation goes to the F&B team under the leadership of Mas Taufik for their kindness and attentiveness throughout our stay. The reception team was equally professional and accommodating, particularly in facilitating our timely check-in. We also thank the housekeeping and laundry teams, who were always helpful, responsive, and courteous.
