I recently stayed at Amber Dale Resort in Munnar, which is in a beautiful location with stunning views. Unfortunately, my experience was far from ideal. Despite booking months in advance, my family and I were placed in a room above what seemed to be a maintenance area. The constant noise from loading and unloading activities disrupted our peace. Additionally, the view was blocked by a fenced-off area, and the balcony had a privacy glass that obstructed half of the view, defeating the purpose of staying at a mountain-view resort. The room also had plumbing issues that caused unpleasant odors. After contacting the front desk, they moved us to a room with a proper mountain view the next day. However, this meant we lost an entire day of our stay due to poor planning. The trip was meant to celebrate my parents' wedding anniversary, and I had hoped for a better experience, especially since the rooms were booked well in advance. On a positive note, the resort's hiking experience was wonderful. Our guide, Rajan, led us through beautiful plantations and scenic viewpoints, which helped make up for some of the resort’s shortcomings. In the end, while the location has potential, the service and room quality were disappointing.

Incredible views! Get the room with the view. It's very peaceful here, staff are attentive and welcoming, on-site restaurant is great. Room was also great, although fan very loud in our particular room - maybe an old fan that needs replacing. Otherwise 5*

The views and activities were great. We do not speak Hindi and we had a hard time communicating in English. It was especially problematic in the restaurant. We realize we are in a country we do not speak the language of but thought the hotel would have more staff fluent in English. Service was slow and sometimes non-responsive.

Excellent views . Very quiet away from activities. Only good if you want to stay at a resort with limit r activities. Beautiful views. Prefer to stay in the valley.

We recently enjoyed a two-day stay at Amberdale Hotel, and it was fantastic. The hotel offers several experiences for guests, including a morning short trek, a hike to a tea estate, and a visit to a nearby waterfall. We also loved the tea tasting, evening snacks, and the cozy night bonfire. Situated on a hilltop, our valley view room was breathtaking, showcasing beautiful tea plantations. The room was cool, cozy, and luxurious, with excellent amenities and a lovely walk-out balcony. The hotel also features a recreation area perfect for hanging out with friends. Additionally, the food was delicious, and the spa services were a nice touch (couldn't experience though). Overall, we had a wonderful stay, making it a great choice for everyone, especially couples. Highly recommend!

Staff extremely attentive at dinner but would say overly attentive. We had constant questions about how everything was during meals yet any requests for drinks/cutlery seemed to take an age despite numerous members of staff being around. I was called 40 minutes before breakfast closed asking why we weren’t at breakfast yet and that it would close soon yet when I had showered and noticed that our towels had been taken and none left to replace them it took 2 calls and over 20 minutes to get new ones. Reception didn’t seem to react to requests for bottled water when called and then upon check out I explained we needed to go as our driver was waiting but I was forced to sit down to wait for the bill which was not given until I filled out a review form on a tablet and then pushed to leave a google review. When I left 3 stars related to timeliness, 2 reception workers came over disgruntled and pushed for justification. It then took a further 15 minutes for their card machines to work to take payment (not their fault I know) which meant check out ended up taking close to 45 minutes despite explaining we had to leave with our driver parked outside

This hotel is not a five-star property. It does not look as glorious in person as it does in the pictures. The room was marginally clean. The staff are useless. At the price point, they should provide breakfast for free, but they are content to nickel and dime you for everything. I ordered room service, and I’m pretty sure the slop they brought me was from the buffet. I couldn’t manage to eat it. Nothing about the property was inviting. And to make matters worse, I was in a room that overlooked the hotel’s hvac. They should sharply discount such rooms because there is nothing pleasant about being in the mountains and overlooking industrial equipment. The wifi sucks. This wouldn’t be as much of a problem if the property was actually a pleasant place to relax. Unfortunately it is not. The experience was so horrible that I checked out after one day even though I paid for three nights. Oh, and the towels are threadbare.
