Grids hostel is always full with families and solo travellers. It's the best hostel in Ueno area. Very close with the exit gate near Family Mart. The environment is nice, the ambiance of the hotel is good, this is my second time to be here and for sure will be back again here.

I chose the Family Room with a private bathroom. The hotel was clean and cozy. It's a 2 or 3 mnt walk to Ueno Station. There are kombini nearby: Family Mart & 7-Eleven. Everything was nice.❤

Stayed there for 7 days. Location: Iriya Station (which you'll get Ginza and Hibiya lines). Across the station you'll find Family Mart and can buy things before back to your hotel for dinner/breakfast. Accommodation: I stayed in female floor level 6, with 6 ladies, full AC and you can keep your luggage inside your room. They'll change your bed sheet on the 3rd day. Toilets: they had separated 2 showers with hot and cold water and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash pump bottle. 3 toilets with Japanese toilet technology with tissue and bidet, and 1 make-up room with lotions and hairdryers. You can rent a towel for 200 yen. Washing machine and dryer machine works well on level 7 and 9. Laundry soap can buy in receptionist for 100 yen. Elevator runs well and they have cozy lobby that you can spend your time browsing with fast unlimited internet there. Safe environment and suitable for families, backpackers, and groups. They serve breakfast that you can pay for 620 yen all you can eat. Nice one. Thank you UnGrids Ueno for the hospitality and will stay there again soon for sure.

Strategic location, clean room but we had problems checking in, I ordered 3 nights. 2 nights on my behalf and 1 night on behalf of my husband, when I checked in I showed 3 days of printed paper and I thought he understood because he answered okay but on the second day we were told to leave it turns out if a different name has to check in again on the third day

For good cleanliness and location not too far from Ueno exit Iriya station but hard mattresses and pillows, modest breakfast and not tasty, advice don't take the breakfast, we stayed 6 nights here but we weren't allowed to leave our suitcases when leaving town even though we were going back to stay here and this is very disappointing.

The mattresses and pillows were hard, the breakfast was only bread, cereal and sausages and even then we took it out a little bit, we took 6 nights here because there was a review from a FB friend who could leave a suitcase when out of town and come back to stay here but apparently couldn't, very disappointing.

Not bad for a budget trip, just feel at home without complaints. The location is if you take the skytrain, get out of the Kensei Ueno Main Exit station, use the elevator to go up 1 floor (there are stairs too) go straight to the left/towards Ueno Station main gate, walk straight along the sidewalk of the Ueno station building you will meet Iriya Gate st Ueno, walk a little another hotel across from it. Ato enter st. Ueno look for Iriya Exit take a left and look a little across the street.

This hotel looks newly built. Room, toilets, shower room are all very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was surprisingly good and they offer many simple menus. 6th floor is ladies only floor. You'll need access card to go to 6th floor via elevator and to go to your room, which is really great. To get to this hotel from Ueno Station, make sure you exit through the Iriya Gate and turn left to Iriya Exit. It is nearer. I took the wrong exit and walked the outside street, it's a longer walk and a bit scary at night (the street is rather quiet). so make sure to take Iriya exit.

When I book the hotel,, I choose "Free Breakfast" option which is cost more than a normal/regular room. I'm also already give a note saying that I have to check out early at 6 am. so I hope to enjoy the breakfast at 5 am. unfortunately, when the day come, I don't get my breakfast due to hotel regulation (which the breakfast only ready at 7 am). why didn't put that information on hotel profile ? other than that, nice hotelm very near to Ueno Station (Iriya Gate Exit), 3 min walking.

Voucher display on breakfast but I can't had my breakfast with the reason the breakfast open on 7 am and I was leaving on 6 am. I told the hotel a day before, usually the other hotel with breakfast would make take away breakfast. But here, they only said no. The breakfast there about 600 Yen so I lost that money for nothing. Maybe you has solution for this.

Really good location, take Iriya Exit from Ueno St., 5 minutes walk, and you're there. Convenience stores are nearby. The shower, toilet, washroom are super clean.
