Very charming hotel, conveniently located so that you can walk to the major sites in the center of the city. Staff very helpful and complementary breakfast very good.

We had a last minute getaway valentines trip with my girlfriend. This hotel was truly amazing and way better than we expected. It was like walking into a museum. The breakfast was absolutely delicious

Very good location, interesting and quirky hotel, shower a bit iffy and hard bed, but apart from that very good.

This hotel exceeded our expectations, especially given price. Location was perfect for viewing old city; about a block away From Plaza Grande. Staff was extremely attentive; could not have been nicer. Breakfasts were more than adequate. Terrific stay for a great price.

This hotel is located in the old town of Quito close to many important sites. It was formerly a private residence dating back to the 19thc and is decorated to capture the feel of that era. Most everyone of the staff was very pleasant.

This is a gem of a boutique hotel, hidden behind a nondescript street front in the center of Quito historical district. I'm amazed that it is not more often frequented (there were relatively few visitors during my July trip). The hotel is located near the center of the historical center, national theater, churches an basilicas--all perhaps 5 minutes walk. My room was completely quiet, comfortably heated, with very comfortable bed. Everything was immaculately clean and WiFi was reliable if occasionally a little slow. The interior is decorated in a rich combination of paintings and lovely wood paneling and colonial style furniture. It really is stunning. Breakfast (free) was made to order and served on tables laid out with linen and fresh roses, by a uniformed waiter in white gloves. The staff were consistently smiling, eager to help. Dinner at the hotel is expensive ($27) and I chose to eat at several of the excellent restaurants in the area (also quite expensive, but more variety). In general, be aware that restaurants and cafes that are listed in Lonely Planet, Travel Advisor, and the like are likely to have somewhat inflated prices, and are significantly more expensive that areas outside the historic district or in Cuenca, for example.

We enjoyed staying at the charming El Relicario de Carmen during our short stay in Quito. Lovely room with wood floors and ceiling and fabulous view. The bathroom was small but we managed. Staff were very helpful. Nice breakfast.

This hotel is just two blocks from Plaza Grande so you are right in the centre for sightseeing and restaurants. You can walk to most of the main sites of Quito. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cooked to order with fresh fruit juice, good freshly made coffee, pastries, fruit and yogurt. The only slight problem was the church bells which ring at 06.45 every morning except Sunday. It was not a problem for us as due to time differences we were waking early. I would most certainly recommend this hotel.

We arrived at the unprepossessing front of the hotel at 1145 pm, without seeing the hotel's sign on the wall overhead. A nice young man, with adequate English, answered the bell and opened the blue door. We immediately felt welcomed, registration at a table was swift, and we were in bed very shortly after midnight, in a small but very clean room. (No elevators, but staff will carry your bag up the stairs.) In the morning, breakfast was nicely served and more than adequate to fuel us. In the daylight, we saw the interesting public spaces in the converted old house. The hotel kept our bags after we checked out, until we departed for the Andean highlands. The day-staff had excellent English and were a good source of tips for where to wander in the city. All in all, we enjoyed the hotel a lot, and only the size of the room keeps it from being given five stars.

This was a beautiful hotel we only stayed one night, myself and daughter age 20. It was an easy walk to the basilica and to the presidential plaza. This hotel was amazingly quiet inside- we had a window to the street but did not hear any cars at all. We had a nice lounge outside our room with a few comfortable chairs. Wifi did not work either in our lounge or room. It worked well downstairs and up on the fourth floor, where there was a great roof top view. The Centro historico is very quiet at night, but we did go to calle La Rhonda by taxi. Breakfast was great- eggs, toast, croissants, juice, coffee, yogurt-missing only some great tropical fruit.

This is the most charming hotel I can recall in years. Superbly located in Quito's historic district, this little hotel is staffed with uniformly friendly, helpful, efficient staff. Breakfasts are fine. Decor is filled with lovely period pieces. Unfortunately, like most 1705 buildings, it has no elevator, so the stairs can be a problem until you get used to Quito's 9,350-foot altitude. But we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We stayed there between landing in Quito and heading out to Kapawi Lodge. Service was good and breakfast was great. A nice quiet place to relax with perfect access to the Plaza independence and La Ronda. Just a little difficult for our taxi driver to find the first night. It does not have a big sign
