Staff was friendly. Our room was upgraded (tip -make sure they turn hot water on). Meals were good, entertainment was fun.

Hospitality, food, staff were perfect. Mosquitoes in December were a problem.

Ok, we really hated it but I’m giving it 5/10 across the board. Here’s my reasons: we were jet lagged and so sleep at the “correct” time was a struggle. Also, this is a Bedouin camp and so you have to have realistic expectations. Here are some of the things we didn’t like: the lighting was very limited, there was NO hot water, the bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed, there were loud barking dogs all night. Here are some positive things: the camp helped us arrange a Jeep tour when we arrived (and started within 15 min), the staff were fine, but had very limited English, the dinner was generous and traditional and reasonably priced. My family wouldn’t want to do a camp stay again, but I’d suggest a more traditional one instead for a more traditional experience (although running water and a toilet ARE really nice and important to some)!

First of all, I wrote in to inquire about 4*4 drive prior to stay and a reply came with rates and I replied if one need to book in advance and there was no reply till the day I checked in. In the booking confirmation, it did state there is no receptionist so on the day of check in there was no one. Then, someone came to counter and ask for name etc. I showed the booking. NO registration done and I was asked "room, breakfast, go?" and was given key and taken to tent. There was no welcoming feeling nor info regarding the camp - what is there and what to do. There was no drinking water in the tent. Later, I came out and noted nothing around the area. Groups of tourists arrived and the staff were busy welcoming them. Next morning, I had my breakfast and left. They say there is WiFi but there was no WiFi in the tent and only after midnight did I receive any WiFi signal. The tent was clean and room comfortable but only with a dingy light - one cannot read properly inside the room. Next morning handed over the key and checked out. Disappointing stay.

Great spot and amenities considering the "camp" like feeling. Dinners were excellent and highly recommended. The managers and staff were friendly and helpful in setting up excursions into the desert. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the Bedouin hospitality of this place, which is currently upgrading and will likely be even better soon.

The decor was very nice and we felt like we had an authentic Bedouin experience. Sitting at the fireplace in the evening and drinking tea in the calm desert is very soothing. Food was very good, good variety of dishes. We found it a very good value for our money. The accommodations are very conformable.

Excellent hospitality of the Bedouin people. Excellent food and attention. You could implement the comfort of the rooms by putting cross ventilation by increasing a window to the opposite side of the existing one so that there is air circulation and to avoid the rooms being so hot in summer.

My guide Hassan made my stay extremely comfortable. Everything was arranged smoothly from the tours to breakfast/dinner. The camp also looked more elaborate than the other ones that I saw. I would definitely come back to the Captain's camp.

Totally faux "genuine Bedouin camp experience". The so-called Bedouin tents were a concrete structure with some carpet material stapled on. We had "de-luxe" rooms including bathroom and shower. Also extremely primitive, with the toilet seat falling off, and the shower only had cold water. The room itself was dirty, with the cloth covering the walls full of stains. And at night it was stiflingly hot after heating up all day, and no fan provided to move the air. To get a minimum of sleep it was necessary to open the door which helped a little, but also gave free entry to the mosquitoes which the net (which was placed to the side of the bed, so it didn't reach the floor on one side) couldn't keep out. So when we finally could get up, all of us had body and face completely eaten by mosquitoes, and the legs by bed bugs. The bed itself is terrible, with worn out mattresses, and dirty, worn linen. If this had been really cheap, I would have accepted some - or maybe even all of it (the stuff you deal with when camping) - but this room was more expensive than the five star resort room in Aqaba, so you do expect a minimum of a standard. Also the promised "zarb", heavily advertised as part of the experience on the Captain's on web-site never materialized. Dinner was badly barbecued meat (especially the chicken slice was really overcooked and dry) with decent side dishes. Breakfast was OK, and no more. On the positive side. Wadi Rum. Absolutely stunning desert landscape.

We stayed 2 days and 2 nights which gave us time to settle in, relax and feel like we got to know the place a bit. Tents are all secure, and the property is very well kept. Bathrooms are basic but clean. Showers have hot water, although it pays to check your timing as Power is from solar energy, and a large tour group will use up a lot at a time. Beds are firm and comfortable with loads of warm blankets as the nights can get cold. Staff are exceptionally nice. They are friendly without being intrusive, always courteous and attentive. English is widely understood and pretty well spoken by most. We are especially thankful to the owner Osama, and his brother Rafiq who manages the site, for their wonderful hospitality and generosity, they really made our stay the highlight of our trip to Jordan. There's music by Mohammed Ali and friends at night which adds beautifully to the atmosphere, and a warm fire to sit by for coffee. We also recommend taking a camel ride at sunset. The driver is great fun . Our special thanks to all the staff, and as mentioned especially Rafiq and Osama for a wonderful stay in the Wadi Rum desert.

Take your mosquito spray with you and a sleeping bag liner, big viscious mosquitoes & dirty bedding. Other than that a great night of food and entertainment, wonderful scenery.

What a novel place- the staff were lovely. We had an odd experience in that the night before it was full but there were only 5 others on our night. The location isn't as isolated as I expected but still the whole set up was unusual and great and I recommend it.

The Captains Desert Camp was an amazing experience! If you are looking for an authentic Bedouin experience, this is the place for you! The staff was nice and made it easy to book tours to Wadi Rum. You can take anything from 1 hour to all day tours. Also, the food was amazing! A huge buffet style dinner and an awesome camp fire experience. Just a heads up, this IS the desert so the rooms are quite hot. Anyone bothered by heat may prefer a more traditional hotel. If your looking for adventure however, this place is hard to beat. Also, make sure you have sufficient cash on hand. They do not take credit cards and ATM's in the area are few and far between.

If you are looking for a genuine beduine experience, this is not the right place for you. But if you would like to spend a night or more in the desert in a tend, surrounded by occidental comfort, in an incredible and amazing landscape, go there! The dinner is great, the location too, people are extremely kind and friendly. So, if you want to feel a bit wild - but not too much - go and relax there! very recommended!!
