First, to acknowledge that the area is in a more rural setting in Uganda, so no big city expectations. At check-in the staff could not find the reservation, despite being shown the emails. The staff in the restaurant were inattentive and even neglectful, so much so that we walked out, unfed. The rooms were showing visible signs of neglect and poor maintenance. The cafeteria/ restaurant had a bat flying around in it. The owner is a wonderful individual, but his property needs some attention...urgently. A jewel in the rough, perhaps.

Says WiFi but only a few rooms have it and they try to charge extra for the same size room that has WiFi. Plumbing is a huge issue, first room no hot water and when finally moved to another room hot water didn't make it to the shower. Slow if any response at blackouts. Maids very friendly and helpful - the rest of the staff useless, especially the manager. I would not recommend during the dry season! I won't go back there either

Kumi is in a poorer part of Uganda and the hotel reflects that. It tries hard and was much improved from my last visit. Hot water consistently and lovely staff.
