On arrival, my wife and I were enthusiastically greeted by Claire, the owner and manager of the Maynard Hotel. We were given an immediate upgrade to the 'sister' hotel, the Rowntree Lodge, a few yards away. The wonderful and highly delightful Claire showed us to the incredible room! She gave us detailed information regarding the various venues and restaurants, especially after my wife mentioned we were in my childhood haunt of Scarborough for my birthday. (Claire mentioned to me as being in my thirties. She will be receiving a huge cheque in the post, very soon)! The room is excellent! Wonderful carpets throughout and a very comfortable large bed. An extremely wonderful touch was the chocolate mints placed on the towels at the end of the superb bed! There was plenty of coffee and tea to help you settle into your incredible room! The WiFi was tremendous! It was much, much faster than the WiFi at home in Hull! (I was able to upload photographs, each at a huge 47 megapixels, from my Nikon D850 to my mobile telephone, much quicker than at home). The room, overall, was truly excellent! My wife, Rosemary and I, felt very special and privileged to have such a beautiful, comfortable and amazing accommodation! We enjoyed our stay in Scarborough! (Remarkably, there are around 27 restaurants and 11 venues within a couple of minutes walking from the Lodge/Hotel). The nearest beach is approximately 400 yards away, with the city centre and the railway station around 1,500 yards distant.

Was lovely and clean . Was a nice get away . Only thing we didnt like is the cleaner walked into our room at 9.15am with out even knocking . Check out is at 10am

Staff absent at check in. Breakfast served off-site - no mention of this on the web. No bar which was pictured. Unneccessarily complicated street parking arrangements. Felt completely mis-sold and ended up staying elsewhere instead, despite paying for 2 nights and leaving after 10 minutes.

Whilst the decor was a little dated our stay was great. Staff helpful and friendly. You can't get breakfast at The Maynard but their sister hotel on the corner was just minutes away, and you got a discount for being guests at The Maynard. Staff/Service excellent. The only thing i would say is my friend was unable to take a bath or shower as there was not a slip mat to assist in their safety.

Room was fine not to keen on all the steps upto the room.

I stayed in a twin room with my granddaughter for 2 nights in a twin room which had a double and a single bed. We were very impressed with our room as it was very clean and spacious. The property seemed to be well maintained and I was able to park outside after purchasing a permit for £10 for 2 nights. My only concern was that there wasn’t a staff member present later in the day or first thing in the morning and I had to just leave the key on the desk when I left just before 9am, checkout is 10am.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff. We will return.

The Maynard is a very atmospheric hotel. Our room was spacious clean and comfortable, a perfect refuge at the end of the day. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was good. On our arrival we were greeted by a very friendly woman.

Lovely, large room. Very friendly staff at reception. Note that the walls are a bit thin between rooms and flats in the house next door. Otherwise, perfect.

Had a 2 night stay, checked in at 12.15 was offered parking permit £10 for 2 days which was a bonus. We were in a a room with 2 single beds which was on the top floor, 66 steps. The room was clean with ample storage and a well stocked tea tray. The bathroom was modern and clean with good toiletries provided. Only negative was could hear the people in the next room and could hear an extractor fan from another room whenever they used their bathroom. Would stay again if on a lower floor.

We had a nice stay the room was comfortable old fashioned but for what we paid we can't complain

Stayed here for one night just me and my little girl. Lovely welcome upon arrival by the owner. Brilliant room, has everything we needed. Comfy bed and fresh towels. Fast WiFi and nice hot showier. Lovely and quiet throughout the day and night. No complaints. Would definitely return.

Clean and spacious family room in a lovely part of Scarborough, within easy reach of town and the South beach but away from the hustle and bustle. Welcoming staff and room was clean and well maintained. The shower was very weak and our top floor room warm at night but a fan helped. Good value overall.

Great time, friendly and very clean

Claire, the owner/manager, is very friendly and welcoming. She gave us lots of information on the area and places to eat. Parking was easy, on the street near the hotel. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, servicing our room daily. The hotel is only 3-4 minutes walk from the cliff lift and paths down to South Bay near the Spa complex. Our room was large, with two double beds and two comfortable chairs to relax at the end of a busy day. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there should we visit Scarborough again.
