Reception staff were helpful. This is a converted prison and so quirkily interesting. The bed was fine and the room was spacious. However I couldn’t find any light switches other than at the door. Only way to turn off the lights was to remove the card key from its slot. Sink only had cold water so impossible to shave.

heb afgesproken met vrienden voor eten en drinken in Alkmaar en woon zelf ver weg. Dus 1 nacht verbleven. Dat is prima gegaan. Leuk is dat je nog duidelijk sporen ziet van de vorige bestemming van het gebouw. (Gevangenis) Alkmaar is trouwens ook wel een mooie stad om te bezoeken met traditionele panden en grachtjes.

This hotel is not child friendly. No food for children at night. Very limited and extremely expensive buffet breakfast

Really unusual type of hotel/prison. Friendly staff and excellent food. Good wifi and gym facilities.

Free parking is hard to get in Alkmaar, but from 17:00-9:00 it is free at the public parking next to the hotel (before passing the barrier) when you have the” pay by phone “ app you can easily pay if you need a bit longer. Enter through the Westerweg.

We got a room for disable, and upon asking for the reason for it, we have been told that once we ordered the cheapest room that what we get.. No one told us that parking is not free, and we had troubles to exit the parking lot upon leaving the hotel.

Fire alarm went off randomly during the night and throughout our stay, and the gym was temporarily removed, without telling us

Leuke accommodatie in een oude gevangenis, sfeer echt tof! helaas was onze superieur kamer erg gehorig en blijkbaar naast een opslag / schoonmaak verzamelpunt dus veel rumoer Er komen regelmatig vliegtuigen over en daarnaast werd er nog volop geklust waardoor van nachtrust weinig sprake was en we al slalommend tussen de ladders onze kamer uit moesten.

Was perfect! Mooi hotel op een toplocatie

Was een leuke ervaring in de gevangenis. Komen we nog zeker een keer naar terug.

Setup of hotel is good! Nice rooms, good atmosphere and nice breakfast. Walking distance from citycenter. The bed’s, mattress, were bad. Didnt have a good night of sleep due to the status of the mattress.

Kamer niet netjes, geen tegemoetkoming

Das Hotel selber ist der absolute Hit. Wenn man in den Zellenblock geht und die ehemaligen Zellen sind. Jetzt Hotelzimmer.... Das Personal war super freundlich. Aber: Im Badezimmer war auf den Sanitärfugen Schimmel und das Bett wurde nie richtig saubergemacht. Eine schriftliche Beschwerde blieb bis heute unbeantwortet

Cool corridor renovation but the room was not to the same standard. Would have preferred a shower curtain or doors to not flood the complete bathroom floor

Es ist ein renoviertes Gefängnis, sehr hübsch und authentisch - schlafen in der Zelle. Gutes Restaurant und Frühstückbuffet

Besonderes Hotel, Zimmerreinigung leider nur mäßig, durchschnittliches Frühstück mit schlechtem Service, super Umgebung für Hundebesitzer, Innenstadt gut fußläufig erreichbar

The hotel is an old prison and has a certain something about it. The rooms on the ground floor face the car park and are therefore noisy

I am disappointed. The beds are sagging, even the topper doesn't help, I woke up every morning with back pain. The room is dirty, dusty, dirty shower, coffee machine with mold, even the coffee cups were not properly washed. Windowblind broken, cannot be closed completely. Noisy, doors in the hallway slamming shut, conversations in the hallway hearable even in bed. Towel worn down with hole in the middle.
