The Doyle was previously the Quirk Hotel, you'll know this quickly b/c the artwork throughout the property notes it as such. Also, Google's street view shows it as the Quirk. We stayed on the 3rd floor over the 4th of July weekend. The property has so much potential. The rooms are minimalist, efficient. Without a full time staff working on cleaning the property; the musty smells on each floor and cleanliness of the downstairs bathrooms is lacking. The tall ceilings and flow of the lobby is welcoming; granted the inexpensive furniture is showing signs of age. A lobby host vs a front desk was especially helpful when there was a neighborhood wide power outage for an hour+. Great text communication John Michael :) The star feature of this property is rooftop- massive. Excellent venue to watch fireworks or the sunset. The area is walkable to the outdoor "mall" featuring restaurants, music venues, etc. Do not recommend this property if you are in town to attend a UVA game; the facilities are a 10+ minute drive. Plan to Valet, nearby parking did not allow for overnight options. Disappointed to see a college town with the infrastructure for cycling and almost no access to hourly rentals? The Doyle does not have property bikes available to check out. The Doyle lacks frills and needs a soft goods/deep clean renovation. The property is much larger than it appears at first glance; potential to be great...The Doyle is average.

Online check in didn't work; website froze; had to call and get a new link. Info sent via text was incorrect. Said parking options were a paid lot seversl blocks away when valet parking was available. No instructions that elevator code was the same as room code. Hotel was MUCH better when it was Quirk. Will find other options when in Charlottesville.

Code system was disfunctional and required calling their remote customer service team multiple times because of code changes during the stay. Housekeeping is not included, nor is on-site parking.

As an architect educator it was an experience to stay in a well-designed modern hotel, by I believe an European architect whose name was unfortuntely not known by the staff. The hotel rooms are agin well laid out, spacious with equally well-detailed set of furnishing. I believe that this is one of the best contemporary designed hotels in Virginia. And for price a bargain. I took many photos to share with colleagues however they have not yet been downloaded.

Valet parking was very confusing. I’m all for contactless experience but parking is not working yet. Also, no soap in the shower and wasn’t sure where to report it since no one is at the front desk anymore.

Cute hotel, great location but I did not like that I had to submit all of my information including my pic to some sort of biometric tracking BS system. I would not have stayed there had I know that ahead of time. Also the water in the shower was never really hot.

The contactless check-in and service made me feel that the place, while stylish, was sterile. It was a rainy day, and I was staying there due to a family emergency. I ate dinner in the rooftop bar, which would be nicer on a beautiful evening, but was very loud and understaffed. The salad was delicious, however. From about 10 pm to 3am an outdoor alarm was beeping. The room had shades but a nearby floodlight still lit the room. No breakfast is included.

This was a terrible hotel with no human service. If this internet based checkin and checkout is the future, please count me out.

There is a lot to like about this place. Large rooms, very clean, sleek designs, great rooftop bar, friendly staff, and great location. But they have some challenges on the IT side. When I received a text with my room number and a code to enter, it had me staying for two days, when in fact I had reserved the room for three days. A bit of a hassle to straighten that out. Then when I arrived, the code I have been given didn't work when I tried to enter my room. I went back to the lobby to speak to the staffer who then assigned me a different room and a different code. I should note he was very friendly and apologetic. The parking app also had some glitches, which actually prevented me from paying for parking one night (and worrying that I would get towed). The staffer I spoke to apologized and assured me I wouldn't get towed. Maybe I just had bad luck? It's a really nice place and a great vibe, but when the staff keeps apologizing, it's obviously not perfect!

this used to be a great property. the new no/ltd staff model is for the birds. barely any staff presence in lobby, no cleaning staff apparent at all, some car valets were sketchy (valet was wearing a doo rag when checking in at 9pm asking to take my car was a total no go for me, and it would be a nonstarter to even go in the hotel if I were a woman. revelers on and en route to rooftop and in elevators were loud and out of control, esp with no staff presence to keep things safe. we encountered one front desk staffer who was helpful, the others, when presence, could barely be bothered to look up from their phone sad to see this special property decline

Not what anyone expects when booking $200 hotel rooms. No front desk or customer help when arriving. Hotel looks like people use to stay here but don’t any longer. Save your money and go to the residence inn next store. That way when the door doesn’t work or they don’t tape the code in the elevator, you don’t feel lost. Watched several older guest arrive and they were lost. The hotel should pay the bar staff and the valet for doing their jobs.

First, we lost power during the visit. Not their fault, but a little annoying. My main issue is their lack of a front desk person or anyone to take a call on property. It’s all done remotely. Which is fine as long as someone still answers the phone on site. I had to call about a lost and found item and sat on hold for 20+ minutes. That is wild! As a hotel owner myself I could NEVER let a guest sit on hold for so long. At least get a phone number and call them back. I guess my item, even if at the property, is lost for good because there is no way I could sit on hold for so long.
