The food was a major disappointment. Dinner options were poorly executed and lacked freshness or flavor, which was surprising given the quality of food available everywhere else in Japan. The only bright spot was breakfast, which was consistently good and well organized. Service was another weak point. The spa attendants, in particular, were curt and noticeably indifferent. Instead of the warm hospitality we’ve experienced at other Marriott locations, the interactions felt transactional and dismissive. Overall, this hotel needs significant attention, both in service training and property maintenance. With so many excellent options in Nara, we cannot recommend this location in its current condition.

Nice hotel. Excellent staff. Very clean room with comfortable bed and bedding. Terrific buffet breakfast. Many high quality options. Free shuttle to and from the main tourist area and train station.

I will start by saying I normally find premium brands of hotel chains not great value for price. But not the JW Marriott Nara! From the minute we checked in the service and hospitality was tremendous. Even the smell of the hotel was unique and comforting. One of my travel partners bought some of their air “therapy” to take home. Our room was luxurious without being over the top. Amenities like sauna, jacuzzi and pool felt like we were in a high end resort somewhere. The breakfast was fresh with a lot of variety. And lets say the foam “baby deer” on our coffee had my wife wanting to take the barista home. The bar was well stocked and wine choice excellent. A little pricey, but expected. I would highly recommend you stay here when in Nara. We will certainly return!

Finding a place that offers all these features is truly wonderful. The fact that it's small and clean creates a comfortable atmosphere, making it inviting. Proximity to good eating joints and convenient transport options adds significant value to the experience. Furthermore, the presence of great staff enhances the overall quality of the place. Therefore, such an establishment provides a well-rounded and enjoyable experience.

Staff was VERY friendly & accomdating. Best hotel experience I’ve had so far. A bit far from Osaka but bus stop in front of hotel takes you right to the train station.

The facilities were very modern and clean, and the staff was very attentive and helpful. We will certainly decide to stay at the JW Marriott Hotel Nara again in the future.

Wonderful hotel and experience.

Quietly sitting away from the hustle of sightseeing center around Nara Park, this is a new, relaxing and more luxurious property in this city increasingly popular with international travelers. The room was spacious enough for property in Japan and spa was nice. The front restaurant was filled in the morning for breakfast, and we ate breakfast in the bar area next to the restaurant. The staff means well but requires more training to bring the service to 4 or 5 star level.

What a wonderful hotel! The thing that stands out here is the service from the hotel staff - from the lovely Uzbek man who checked us in through to the breakfast team in the restaurant. They are all amazing. Thank you!

The hotel is about 2 miles away from Nara Park but in terms of other options it’s the best there is for location and with that you also get a beautiful hotel, lovely, kind staff and an amazing room!

This is my first time to Nara. This is my favorite hotel I have stayed at this year. The hotel staff are very friendly and kind. If we arrive early, they will give me a room in advance. It is also good to use the swimming pool. The key point is next time I will still stay in this hotel when I come here.

A wonderful, new hotel in Nara. One of the few high-end hotels there, competing against Nara Hotel. In contrast to the stodgy competitor, JW Marriott is very modern with traditional Japanese aesthetic.
