I'm writing this review on my last night staying here (I wish it had come sooner) but unfortunately I was staying on a work visit.
Was greeted by a seemingly hostile reception worker that's first question was "do you smoke or vape" not welcome or any sort of professional or friendly comment. Followed by "what's your name".
The room I stayed in was very dated and a poor layout and appeared like it was furnished by the Salvation Army second hand store. Admittedly this may be to try and keep a vintage or country charm but it falls extremely short of any sort of practicality or appeal.
Cons:
The carpet and floor was unlevel and uneven and made me feel like a drunk pirate walking on it.
The heat function of the aircon unit didn't work.
Janky tight onsite car parking.
A pillow that smelt like a sweaty, old deceased man's head had been sleeping on it for a few weeks past his expiry.
Extortion rate pricing for simple cheap items like $2.00 for a Vittoria coffee pod or $7.00 for a toothbrush.
Tight spaced bathroom with a horrible angled screen that makes you feel like you're in a glass coffin being waterboarded.
Taps with two settings : skin boiling or Scandinavian ice.
Poor housekeeping and bed making.
Appliances directly from Kmart (Anko Brand).
A towel rail hanging in the entry to the bathroom that took two victims : my left and right hip.
Mould in the grout which has been treated with bleach and had a nasty chlorine smell on arrival.
A portable basket ball ring outside of my room door.
Overflowing ashtrays in the "smoker's area".
Drums of pool chemicals stored poolside which was very assuring no swimming was available.
A gym and laundry that were unavailable to access with my room key.
Poor soundproof walls (guests next door having a nice conversation while I'm reviewing)
Pros:
I'm leaving in the morning.
Conclusion:
Maybe I'm from a generation that expects a few simple comforts when staying away like an accessible power socket or some space to set my laptop up to do work, that isn't taken up by 3 desk lamps, a floor lamp and an alarm clock or a room that after working away I don't mind settling in to unwind and relax before the next day's work. I think the whole room could do with a bit of modernising. (Big difference between country chic and designed by Bernardo's)
1/5 did not enjoy my stay and felt like I was begrudgingly allowed to stay in the room.
