The stay was amazing. I think the cozy queen is really only appropriate for 1 person not two. But i love this hotel and ai stay here every time I have to get a hotel in NYC.

Great hotel for location, cleanliness, size of the room (crazy for NYC standards), helpful staff, breakfast and cocktails (outdoor terrace!) offered daily.

Great location if you are going to a show. Walking distance to tons of restaurants and other attractions. Second time staying here and will be back again.

We LOVE staying here! Anytime we come to NYC we stay here bc the price is amazing, it’s close to everything (theaters, Central Park, etc) and we love the kind staff. The jazz nights were fun to experience too as well as Starchild on the rooftop. Danny at the front was amazing and remembered me from last time!

Excellent hotel, even though the hotel rooms are super small. Will stay again. Recommend for solo travellers.

Great stay at this very cute boutique hotel. The rooms are definitely “cozy” but exactly as pictured so no surprises. It’s located in a great area with no real outside noise coming through! The rooftop terrace was nice but definitely not my scene late night (think DJ and very young rowdy crowd), it was perfect around sunset! The second floor lounge was also fantastic with live jazz music that played well into the late night hours! Overall great stay.

Room was nice and clean, love the modern / stylistic touches, heated bathroom floor and overall vibes. The rooftop bar was pricey but very nice. Cons - the lighting in the bathroom was too dim to do makeup or any grooming; the elevators were ungodly slow; the provided shades did not provide enough blackout.

The rooms where very clean. The king room is spacious. Didnt have a good view but we where ok with that cause they had a rooftop veiw we went up to for some drinks. The staff was very friendly. The beds are a little hard and the water pressure was low but overall a great experience. The hotels location is great close to a lot of stuff in walkable distance. Close to time square, theater district, restaurants, and the train also.

As many have said, rooms are on the smaller size but well appointed and the bathroom was plenty spacious with an excellent shower with amazing water pressure.

Stylish but everything feels small (even for NYC standards), tiny rooms, small reception & corridors, no common area, noisy doors. Staff was friendly and professional.

We had a comfortable stay in a double room at Civilian for a few days. We began with four guests sharing the room, later reduced to one guest for the last two nights. The space was a bit tight for four people (though manageable) and more comfortable with three. The room itself was simple, nicely decorated, and carried a steampunk vibe. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the stay. We used the TMPL gym located a block away, which was a great option considering many hotels offer under-equipped onsite gyms. The location of the hotel is excellent, with easy subway access, plenty of nearby restaurants, and theaters all within walking distance. Overall, it was a refreshing change from the uniformity of large chain hotels.

Though small, our room was thoughtfully arranged with everything we needed. And given the location, it was surprisingly quiet. We loved the bars in the hotel and the location...convenient to some great places. We'll be staying here again soon.
