We had the most gorgeous time at this beautiful ryokan/onsen/resort. The setting is so calm and luxurious – I’ll never forget sitting in the (huge) window of our room in the evening and morning, watching the birdlife over the pond and river, with the snowy mountains in the distance. The outdoor onsen is especially spectacular in the early mornings and late nights, and we appreciated that even at 'busy' times during our stay there were only a handful of other people at most in the onsen. It was also lovely to have information for those new to onsen, so everyone felt welcome and comfortable, and a recommended 'itinerary' for a one-night stay, acknowledging that many (like us) would only have a short time here. Dinner and breakfast were both stunning in the traditional ryokan style, with lovely sake and wine on offer in the evening. The hotel is clearly able to accomodate a large number of guests but is cleverly laid out (as is the dining room) to make it feel very intimate and private for each guest. It’s such a special and calm place, and one I’ll always think of very fondly! (PS. You can access the National Ainu Museum by foot via the hotel car park, or it’s a very quick drive next door. We visited after checking out — not to be missed!)

The friendly staff, their service is outstanding. There is a dedicated person who welcome you, carry your bags, give you a tour of the facility and the room. The room is clean and comfortable, great amenities, the only thing that I do not like is they blast the heater to high, even with lowering the temperature, it is still very hot. The room came with dinner and breakfast. I did not tell them in advance that my husband is allergic to diary, So there have no time to amend the menu for dinner. But for the breakfast, they were able to substitute all dishes with diary with alternatives. Service is excellent and over and above.

Two words: the view!! It was one of the best resort we’ve stayed in. An easy 8 minute walk from the train station or 5 min taxi ride. Located next to the Ainu museum. The staff were friendly and super hospitable. When we got there we were assigned a hostess would gave us a tour of the resort and amenities. The outside livable onsen was amazing, relaxing, and had the most beautiful views of the lake and mountains. The insider onsen was nice but it is open to the public so I only went once. But the best was the onsen bath in the room, but warming it is extremely hot like boiling water lol but once you open the window it’s much more pleasant.

Room is very spacious and nice, design and ambience are so great. It will be better if it can offer upgrade option for dinner, and offer transfer service to JR station.

Room onsen tub was small, food is terrible (except for the milk pudding for dessert). There is a rotten moat that bred mosquitos and were landing on our window. No bars, facilities, amenities etc...

The staffs were very kind and professional. The lake view was the best.

The onsen is excellent

Beautiful location, very comfortable room with an onsen in your bathroom. The private open air onsen is wonderful, one of the most peaceful moments of our trip. The hotel is architecturally gorgeous and the way it blends with nature is stunning. Food is ok, there’s only one restaurant and you have to book breakfast and dinner - otherwise you have to walk to get something to eat as there’s nothing the kitchen can prepare which I find a bit disappointing after several hours traveling and feeling super tired. Dinner was great although for tourists not used to the style there could have been an explanation of the set menu which I found out later there were many dishes I was allergic to and couldn’t change. Overall is a nice hotel for a one night stay but given above preparation is needed.
