I wasn't allowed to check in because the hotel would not accept our international cards to pay the safety deposit.

There’s much to like about The Shane in Atlanta, but two disappointing experiences led me to give a poor rating. First, upon check-in, the room I was assigned was clearly not ready—someone had used the bed, a hanger was left on it, and there was trash on the floor. I returned to the front desk and was given a different room. Second, during my stay, my night garment went missing after housekeeping cleaned the room. I assume it was accidentally taken with the bedsheets. I followed up several times with both housekeeping and the front desk but received no resolution or meaningful communication. I was repeatedly told they would look into it, but no one ever followed up. After my stay, I emailed the housekeeping manager on July 3 and again on July 6—both messages went unanswered. Overall, the staff were unresponsive, offered no apology or compensation, and failed to take responsibility.

The staff and service were excellent overall. However, there were a few disappointments compared to my previous experiences at other Kimpton locations. The pillows were extremely flat, leaving us with stiff necks in the morning—definitely not the level of comfort I’ve come to expect. Valet parking was another concern. The wait to retrieve our car was unusually long, and the $50 valet fee—which appears to be the only parking option—was not disclosed in my reservation details. Additionally, we opted to order food through DoorDash since the restaurant menu was significantly overpriced. I had asked the front desk to notify me when the delivery arrived. Unfortunately, after an hour and a follow-up with the restaurant, I discovered that the food had been sitting in the lobby for quite some time. No one from the front desk contacted us, and by the time we received the order, it was cold.

Great hotel, awesome location

The Kimpton does a phenomenal job. Rooms are decorated wonderfully and the bathrooms are divine! Plenty of space and quiet for being in the city. Walkable to great restaurants, the park, museums, and public transit on Marta. Also, the parking is safe and convenient. Love staying at Kimptons!!
