Its a lovely place. My room by the sea was divine. Will stay again.

I was quite happy with my stay at Sand and Tan. The staff was warm and accommodating. The food was delicious and the Jamaican vibe was real. The entrance to the hotel could use some updates, however the facilities was clean and comfortable.

The beach is wonderful. Owner and staff need a class on proper etiquette . Great place for a budget vacation. Bed was comfortable. All you need is your bathing suit. Don’t go expecting too much, you won’t get it . Too many cats .

I love the natural settin g and minimalistic approach to hospitality. I would like to see renovated facilities that reflect the up market opportun ity coming to Jamaica. Re-opening the old road from Shaw Park to make a much bettewr sense of arrival.

My stay at Sand and Tan was okay overall. I would like to commend the young bartender (whose name I unfortunately did not get) and the two ladies who worked in the evenings. They were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout my stay. However, I was disappointed that a young man who appeared to be part of the maintenance team repeatedly approached me asking for tips, which made me uncomfortable. I also feel the property is overpriced for what it offers. For the rates being charged, there are nicer apartments with better amenities available. The facility could use some improvements, and the food prices are extremely high compared to similar places. The staff mentioned above were excellent, but overall the property does not offer the value I expected for the price paid.

Loved my stay and will for sure be returning. The waves were so soothing and were a well needed relaxation. Food was top tier I wish I could bring the chef home with me!

First off, on arrival the room was dark and a little dated with mismatched flooring tiles. The main bed room ceiling light did not work, neither did the side table light. I called downstairs to receptionist and was informed that maintenance was gone for the day and they would send someone to change the side table light but the ceiling light would be fixed the following day. A drink credit was given for the inconvenience. No one ever came to fix the ceiling light the next day. The refrigerator didn’t work and the for an hour there was no water. I called to let them know about the refrigerator and reminded them about the ceiling light. My husband and I got to breakfast around 8:30am and was not served until 9:45am due to them only having one staff member available for breakfast. When we did get served they run out of some food items. Lunch was no different we waited about 2 hours and when we did receive our food it was cold and unedible. The refrigerator was changed the next morning and about 7pm on our final night they offered to change our room. We declined since we were checking out early the next morning. Mind you this was a busy Mother’s Day weekend you would think they would staff and have food for the reservations they had. We requested to speak to the manager but that did not happen either, bad customer service.

Beautiful beach access! Staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean with running hot water. The food is on the pricey side and the bar closes fairly early imo (9pm), so if you’re hungry or thirsty late be prepared to venture off the property, but the party vibes are very nice during the weekend. Breakfast is very nice, worth the wake up and the view from the rooms are amazing! Would absolutely stay again :)

We loved the location! And we loved the staff! Top notch. Super awesome people the only thing we didn’t like was we needed a really nice shower at the end of the day and that needs improvements. Thank you for having us.

The staff and amenities were good, but we have given this property a five star rating for its location, setting and vibe. It is further down the coast from the big gated resorts and is close to the white river. If you’re independently minded and like doing your own thing - perhaps with a rental car as we had, or even if you don’t- then this offers more freedom than a mega resort . One other thing we liked was that it is popular with Jamaican visitors, not just tourists . It enabled a lot more cultural exposure. The breakfast is excellent, with eggs cooked to order, or a Jamaican breakfast . A small quiet beach and colourful murals as decor make it feel quite personable. There is a bar and an ocean deck. There is also free parking. The accommodation is actually a beach hotel and not a resort like others in Ocho Rios- with multiple pools and the like. It is also a slightly older property with a rustic charm. If you want a flashy and new resort, where you’ll only meet tourists and staff, this is not the place for you. If you want an authentic, decent quality beach hotel vibe and a great base for exploring then we strongly recommend the Sand and Tan

The hotel has an amazing seaside location with beautiful views, which is definitely its strongest feature. It’s also conveniently located near Dunn’s River Falls and Blue Hole, making it easy to explore some of the area’s top attractions. There are also several good restaurants nearby, and the hotel’s own restaurant is decent. Breakfast was enjoyable and a nice start to the day. However, the property itself feels quite outdated and could really use some renovation. While some staff members were kind and helpful, the experience was inconsistent—particularly at the concierge desk, where a few staff came across as unhelpful and unfriendly. Overall, everything at the hotel is quite simple. It’s a good option if you prioritize location and views over modern amenities and service consistency.
