For starters the hotel was practically impossible to find. Me and my family walked around the area where the hotel was “supposedly” located at for a good 30 minutes. We even went to another hotel nearby to ask for directions and they said they didn’t know about the hotel. At one point we began to think we got scammed. Eventually we found it. It was next to a Christmas decoration store and when we walked into the Christmas decor shop to ask for help the lady working at the counter told us she gets this often. The hotel itself was okay. The corridors smelled and the rooms pillows smelled of people’s scalps. Honestly wouldn’t recommend. Not to mention how disgusting the shower was Truly an experience.

The apartments themselves are quite cute. Very European. BUT - would I recommend, NO. Property indicates elevator. There is but depending on the location of the unit there are also stairs. Details indicate no parking, but there is public close by for $25/day. Found the closest and a day is 10 hours, so a two day stay was going to be $100 without any in out privileges. Is what it is and not the properties fault, but should probably indicate where this parking garage is. We arrived with the heat wave to find air conditioning didn’t work. Temp in apt was 80 degrees. Doesn’t work with asthmatic mother. After leaving to be able to breathe, re-entry was at 82 degrees. We were offered another unit which registered at 83.3 degrees. After providing my phone number twice offering to have a conversation to walk me through the unit use, and instead being asked to take pictures and videos of the units, with no conversation we had no option but to book another hotel. Were told that the technician would be there in the morning. No technician arrived. We moved on that day. Did not spend one night of a two night stay and was refused refund. Could not open windows as there is full on construction happening across the street. Escalated through Expedia and “hotel” events were very much different to the ones I provided, of which I was able to refute as I had all emails and screenshots of conversations. Very unprofessional and hard to resolve any issues.

We like the location but the suite needs improvement…there was no toilette paper holder, no towel bars and no shower soap / shampoo shelf in the washroom…also there was no air conditioning in the suite and / or no instructions on how to operate the heat / AC controls….very frustrating…as the outdoor temperature was in the mid-30 C degrees…

This is an easy 5 star review for Le Merrill-We absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend this property for other travelers to Montreal! My daughter and I were in Montreal for the Formula 1 race weekend and we wanted a safe hotel that would be easily accessible to a metro, within walking distance to some of the beautiful sites in the old town, and that had a kitchen to make food there during our stay. Le Merrill checked all of our boxes and it was all better than we expected. The apartment was within a 5 min. walk to the metro; we could easily reach many sites, restaurants and coffee shops within steps from our front door; and the overnight parking garage was literally across the plaza. The managers were really quick to communicate and send access instructions. The place was spotless, the bed was super comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. Everything about Le Merrill was top notch for our needs. We brought and bought groceries and saved money by cooking in the apartment after long days out. If you also like to travel like this and have easy access to all you need, Le Merrill is perfect!

Bed was not the size that was advertised. The sink in the bathroom was completely clogged and wouldn’t drain. The AC did it work & we couldn’t open the windows because it turned the heat on. The halls, elevator and lobby had cigarette and cigar smell.

The location, in the old city, is great, allowing us to walk everywhere and the unit is spacious. But this is neither a hotel nor a working apartment for even short-term stays. There is no front desk. Check in and out is via codes emailed 24 hours before--but in our case, I had to email them the night before we were to leave our home to get this information. Once on site, the only communication is via email and in our case, the management company did not always respond in a timely fashion. Moreover, the place is about 75% working--there is one towel rack, coffee maker but no coffee, no salt or pepper if you wanted to cook, no toilet paper holder, no shelves in the two large closets in the bedroom, and no laundry powder even though there is a stackable washer-dryer. The instructions for working the heating and air conditioning were obtuse at best. The bathroom drain worked poorly when we arrived and by the time we left two days later, didn't drain at all. We ran into some other guests who reported the same problem so it must be the central plumbing. Finally, I know Montreal is an expensive city but Le Merrill was quite expensive for what it was.

Our problems started at check-in. When we reached the property we found a locked door and no reception. when we called the contact number we were told we didn't have a reservation even though it was fully paid for. We finally got into the apartment almost 2 hours later, after several phone calls to the property and Hotels.com. After this fiasco, the real issue was inside the apartment, even though it was clean we found several woodlice on the bed and on the floor. Needless to say we didn't get a good night's sleep in four nights. Also, the Wifi was spotty and almost nonexistent..

Nobody on site to resolve an issue, and we had a few. The communication with the hotel through the app was very frustrating and not helpful at all. The main issue was a Mouse that greeted us one night!!!! and smaller issue to my husband's frustration, TV not working. Batteries that we bought for the remote the next day did not fix a problem. We stayed with the mouse for the next 3 days and tried to get a picture of it running as that is what we were asked to do! Apartment itself was nice, clean modern and spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids, but only has limited things for cooking. That being said, even toilet paper is limited. Great location, next to Notre Dame, close to metro, grocery , dining, coffee shops. So, if you are not ready to deal with all this, I would not recommend the place

Great location, short walk to subway, right next to the waterfront and right in the middle of Old Montreal. Note- minimal amenities. Dish soap and dishwasher provided, otherwise plan on bringing/purchasing your own hand soap, toiletries.

Great location in old Montreal. Overall, we liked the open concept of the unit, but no door between bathroom and bedroom made privacy impossible.

I stayed here 10/23 with a group of friends and it was great! I returned 4/24 and the place had really gone downhill! Slats were missing from the beds rendering certain sides unusable for an adult, the bathroom door was unable to close as multiple screws were coming off the hinges, only 1/3 light bulbs were operational in the overhead lighting and the towel racks and toilet paper holders had been removed leaving random hardware on the wall. It clearly has not been kept up with! Other areas where I was not impressed: only 4 towels for 5 people (you can’t call and get extras), dirty dishes left in the dishwasher and there was a raging party across the hall at 1 am on a Tuesday night and while that isn’t the property’s fault, since it isn’t a normal hotel, there is no front desk to call for assistance. Overall the location is just so perfect, but it is clear they are not maintaining the property well.

We booked here for 3 nights over the Easter weekend. We didn’t receive a check in email so I had to call en route to get our check in information. When we arrived, the apartment had not been cleaned from the previous person so we called the number only to be told that the place would not be cleaned until the next day because of the time. We were given the option to have Expedia find us another place or to go upstairs to another apartment to get clean sheets and towels to make the bed ourselves. We chose that option because we had already paid for parking and didn’t want to move. The bed had broken slats on one side so it was not the most comfortable sleep but we McGyvered it enough to make it work. There were no batteries in the remote so the AC couldn’t be turned on and it was warm. Otherwise, the apartment was quite modern with lots of space. We enjoyed how close it was to everything we wanted to experience and parking ($50 a day 😳) was just around the corner. We would stay here again but we would call ahead to make sure that it is ready upon arrival. We were told we will be receiving one night’s payment returned for our troubles.

Recently stayed in Le Merrill - Vieux Montreal in a 3 queen bed unit. Unfortunately, there were some issues on arrival including a poor smell in the unit, the towels were damp, and one of the beds was missing bedding. We also found that one of the bed frames was missing many supporting planks. The most unfortunate part of our stay was that the host was entirely unhelpful in these matters. We reached out to them immediately upon check in to identify the issues. They repeatedly ignored my request about providing the missing bedding and made no attempts to get us fresh towels. After spending the first night cold due to the host not providing the missing bedding we reached out again to the host. Once it was clear that the host would be ignoring our request again, and would not be getting us the missing bedding for the second night we had to go purchase blankets ourselves. They offered no amount of financial compensation for the poor service and missing amenities, and did not compensate us for the blankets. I tend not to leave poor reviews unless it is really earned and in this case it certainly was. The location was good however that was the lone positive factor in my rating. This was extremely poor customer service.

Beautiful space. Tons of room. Comfy beds. Room to cook or lounge. Gorgeous big windows. Wonderful space and well located in old Montreal. Not a typical hotel. No staff. No house keeping. No front desk. No room service. No bar and no outdoor signage.

We booked the room with 3 queen beds and a kitchen. The location was great. It is right in the heart of Vieux Montreal and a short walk to the subway. It was very spacious for the 4 of us that stayed there. 6 people could comfortably stay there, so long as they would share a queen bed with someone else. One of the beds is in a separate room, so my partner and I slept there, and it provided some privacy. Our 2 children each got their own queen bed in the space shared with the kitchen. The beds, pillows, and bedding were comfortable. The kitchen was very large for a hotel room. It had a large fridge with a lower freezer, a ceramic range, a large oven, a dishwasher, and a good size sink with a sprayer faucet. There was also a toaster, electric kettle, and a coffee maker. There is also a clothing washer and dryer. There was a good amount of plates, bowls, and utensils. There was also a small pot, a medium pot, a strainer, and a cutting board. The bathroom was a very good size with a walk-in shower that could fit two people. Shampoo, hand soap, toilet paper, and towels were included. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but we had some issues. The kitchen faucet was loose. There were very minimal supplies. No dish soap, paper towels, baking sheet, foil, or laundry detergent. There was only one dishwasher detergent, so we were only able to run it once on our 5 night stay. No lighting in the private bedroom closet, so we had to use the flashlight on our phones at night.

I would not recommend staying here. There was no toilet paper when we arrived and the management was not responsive. They said they ran out and would deliver it first thing the next morning. They never delivered it and we had to track down cleaning crew to get them to give us the toiletries we needed. While they were super responsive and slow the entire time we were there, cleaning crews entered our room before our check out time to strip beds. On top of that the building smelled weird and the halls were dirty. It was not as advertised nor worth what we paid.

Place was clean and big. Family of six fit easily. Location couldn't be better in Old Montreal with shopping, dining activities all a short walk. Only think is it's in a tough spot to unload on a busy day. Plenty of parking over at the pier (we parked for 2 days at the science museum pier no problem). I would pack light so I would just park and walk everything over. Would definitely stay there again.

Nice room, spacious with perfect location; HOWEVER, the internet was ALWAYS going out so not a place for anyone who needs to work. One of the beds had to be pieced together because the boards under the mattress were broken. There’s no desk or staff to communicate with so if there’s a problem, you won’t get a response from anyone
