I was a bit disappointed with Beretta. After being recommended by the a prime travel guide I expected more. Beginning with the positive: it has a premier location just a block down the street from varenna train station. The rooms are tidy and clean and the cleaning staff was very polite ( was the only staff I met). We got a corner unit with a small lake view. There’s a very nice cafe. And patticerie in the first floor where you can get breakfast (premises don’t offer breakfast).
Now the rest: there’s no front desk and access is managed by electronic codes. So in reality more than a hotel it is a nice hostel. In consequence, there aren’t many of the amenities to expect from a hotel such as immediate response to issues, local tourism guidance. holding bags etc. Noise insulation from the street is poor so cars passing by would wake you up all night. The door to the balcony was partially malfunctioning. Probabaly the worse part and the one easier to fix is that there’s very poor covering to the large windows (including the bathroom) when needed. So sleeping with the street lights was difficult and worse, there was no privacy to undress your self in the room or even use the bathroom toilet. Felt like I was naked in middle of the street
Don’t take me wrong, it’s a nice clean place and might return if some of these issues were addressed, but at over $360 USD a night I expected more and thought it was a bit overpriced for what you get.
