This location was steps from the downtown core which we greatly appreciated! The room was comfortable and clean. Our only notes are the room had a very strong perfume odour when we arrived - anyone who was scent sensitive would have had an issue with it and the scent seemed to linger the entire weekend. Finally, if you wanted a hot shower you needed to take one in the morning. By the afternoon/evening there was no hot water. Overall though the hotel was great! We’d stay again for sure.

Impossibly loud and a cold shower

It’s a great place to stay. Downtown Moncton walking distance from Main St. Also having the restaurant. st-James Gate on the main floor with the patio is awesome. Public parking across the street is about $18 a day. It’s a self check-in but the communication between the hotel via text is great and they are quick to answer. You will receive a text with your room Number, a code for the main door and a code for the lock box so you get your 2 card key. It was a first for us but we liked the experience. The view on the next building isn’t that great but we were only there to sleep and experience downtown Moncton. So it wasn’t and issue for us. We will go again.

Very interesting concept. Have never experienced a "self check in" hotel before. It was very easy, they texted you very clear instructions. The room itself was very nice.

Overall the room was ok although it had a terrible musty smell to it and it also had hair on the floor that did not belong to us.

Hard to figure out how to get in since we didn’t received the code ahead! But the room was good! No parking available, had to pay for parking across the street.

We had zero contact check in, which was fine. We had very regular contact from hotel checking on our arrival and explaining the process. The first time doing that but we had our keys, didn't have to wait in line and got right into our room. The room was very clean, bright and had some nice decor. It was a bit loud being near the very busy restaurant/bar with loud music going very late downstairs but we expected that and it didn't bother us. The price of what we got I felt reflected that. We would go back to the hotel. The restaurant in the same hotel however "lost"our "confirmed" reservation and we had to scramble for dinner for our anniversary. We drove out of town for both spots. Hotel we liked, restaurant zero stars.

I love bowers hotel! But the bed was hard but to each there own! Ahahha but other then that perfect stay!

Our first stay at St James Gate Boutique Hotel, was very impressed! Our room was on the third floor. There are steps, which was not a concern for us but may be for some. Overall very comfortable, clean room, awesome location and the price was excellent. We would not hesitate to stay at this location in the future.

I did not gave 5 stars for staff for the hotel because everything is electronically operated, which work very well. Also did not gave 5 stars because there are 35 steps to go up before reching the room. The restaurant is very appreciated and I gave them 5 stars.

It was a nice area downtown and the food at the restaurant was yummy!

There was no hot water from 4pm for the rest of the night! Not only did we pay extra for the room with a big tub and were unable to use it due to no hot water, we couldn't even take a shower. I called the on-call number twice, they said they would notify maintenance, but it never got fixed for us as they also said the hot water is connected to the restaurant below and there was nothing they could do. We were extremely disappointment and frustrated.
