Clean and very functional. Super location if you take the Ferry early in the morning from Departure Bay.

At first we thought it was fairly clean but when I went to make breakfast I found a frying pan in the cupboard with rice and grease still on it. There is no salt or pepper or anything to make cooking a little easier while traveling. We had two big towels for 5 people. The master bedroom is on the main road and the sound of traffic is quite loud. It was expensive for what it is.

Perfect place to sleep for one night on our drive to Victoria. It was very quiet, so we slept well. The room was also very clean.

It is very noisy especially rooms next to the staff overnight. And you can hear everyone moving around at night. Of those things don’t bother you, the beds are comfy out last room though felt like a bat cave. MY girl friend has strict dietary requirements and at the time of booking we were told we could cook. Then we get there no hood vans and notices everywhere saying no food with strong odors and specifically list seafood :/ If we are in Nanaimo again we will not be booking here.

This was a very convenient stay close to the ferry terminal for our early morning ferry. While the room was scrupulously clean, and the amenities were very good in that there were good soaps, nice towels, etc. the one major drawback was that the room was barely bigger than the bed. Had it been just that little bit bigger it would’ve gotten five stars all across the board.

This room was the smallest I've ever been in - particularly the bathroom as ND shower. The main room was okay.

The Buccaneer Inn was great value for money - as someone who grew up locally, I was a bit concerned about what I was getting into, but those fears were unfounded. The Inn has clearly worked toward sprucing up, with a tidy appearance and newer mattresses. The bathroom was very clean and surprisingly "sparkly" for an older hotel. The kitchen was decently kitted out for a hotel kitchen. The things that might crop up as issues - despite the windows appearing pretty new, the screens were ill fitting or bent in my room, so it's possible bugs could get in during hotter summer days. And it is near a high traffic road when ferries unload, so if bothered by traffic noise, that could be a problem for some. Same goes for seaplanes taking off (I loved that!). Plus people walking by the front window late at night aren't always the most considerate - but that's not the hotel's fault! Parking can be a bit tight depending on when you arrive, but there are a reasonable number of spots for units. Overall, would stay again. Coworkers asked where I was staying and to their surprise, I told everyone this was a perfectly viable option.

Loved our two night stay at this hotel! Friendly, helpful staff and an exceptionally clean room. Across from the motel is a boardwalk along the ocean channel. We strolled and enjoyed the boats and watched the seals. Will definitely stay again!

most everything was okay, however during our stay the outside temperature was less the 10 deg C during the night and there was no available heat in the room. The room used hot water heating and while I turned the valve to the maximum setting, no heat was to be had. Maybe we should use the stove?????

We didn’t have time to use the kitchen, but we walked down to the marina and ate at the pub (4 minute walk). We had a truck and trailer and had a spot to park. Staff were super helpful and our stay was very enjoyable. Thank you

We booked a cottage, it was very clean. And provided full set of utensils. The rooms are very cozy. We had a wonderful day staying there. I definitely will consider this place again for my next visits Nanaimo.😊
