The terrace was beautiful. The guy sweeping leaves off the roof during the evening and the family with very loud children!

The rain was particularly heavy when we checked in and the room we booked had a small leak, so we had a downstairs river view for the first night. This first room, though large with AC, just felt dark (the windows were looking onto the lower terrace so you felt you had to shut the curtains). The shower also would not get warm. However, for the second night we were moved into an upstairs river view room, and what a difference! It was so light and airy feeling - again with AC and great space. There was also a shared balcony with the room next door. Plus, the shower was great. If we were in this room throughout I could have given 5 stars! Breakfast was great, and made to order (from 2 options). Loved the main hotel deck (breakfast area) looking out onto the river, and we sat out on here both nights also. We also booked a morning boat tour and morning walk through the hotel - highly recommend. They make sure coffee is available before you go out at 6am, and you take the boat from the hotel deck. They included a loan of big rain capes for the boat and wellies for the walk too. There were only 4 of us on the boat and us 2 on the walk, so it was almost a private tour for a great price.

Staff are very helpful and there's housekeeping every day. I like the idea of having tea and coffee ready at 5:30 before going to an early tour. The convenience of pick-up and drop off at Casa Marbella dining area/ lounge chair for your boat ride back to La Pavona parking lot is a big plus.

We discovered that we LOVE Casa Marbella, one of the highlights of our visit to Costa Rica this time! Family owned and run, one of the oldest hotels in Tortugero, the Casa Marbella staff provides friendly, expert, and excellent customer service (boat taxi pick up at the airport, guided tours by boat and in the preserve, etc.) The hotel is small, right on the river, and quiet. We loved staying here and definitely would go back.

This property is in a great location and offers boat tours in the morning. We liked the hotel except there may have been an issue with the water we didn't ask why it only seemed to offer a cold shower. Not sure if it had to do with the electrical outages they had while we were visiting.

The options of hotels in tortoguero is not much.. there is virtually no Airbnbs .. casa marabella is the perfect place.. very simple ! The location is beyond perfect! And they have free breakfast and coffee which really is a plus ! To get there is a whole different story !! But an awesome adventure.. you have to arrive in la Pavona.. parking people will greet you! They know you’re coming because casa Marabella had talked to them already.. You have to pay for both parking and the boat two separate companies/people.the lady that greeted us there her name was Gina and she was very sweet and helpful! After you pay parking and the boat ride you wait at the restaurant… your boat will arrive then off to the river jungle cruise ! Basically like Disney ride but real ! We spotted a crocodile was laying around and the boat guy slowed down for us to take photos. They will drop you at casa Marabella right on the dock you barely have to walked 7 steps ! Which is another plus !! Make sure you book the boat tour to go see the park! It is a must ! If you don’t why even make it all the way to to tortoguero! I booked it through the hotel and the dude that works at the hotel took us ! It was amazing ! He knew his stuff well! We did the 5:50 AM and it was just phenomenal not crowded and perfect ! After arriving we at the hotel and decided to walk back to turtoguero we rented rain boots from a lady there for 4 dollars ! Trust me you’d need them !

Hotel has a fantastic view that you can enjoy throughout the day and where you eat breakfast, which was also very good (it varies every day, e.g., pancakes, scrambled eggs). The room mostly has everything that you need (no safe). Our room specifically was directly next to the Main Street, so it sometimes was noisy but nothing extreme. Would definitely stay here again.

To put things in cotext, I live in Denver so am not used to humidity. We were in Tortuguero in August, which is the rainy season so it wa s hot and humid (think mid-80's for both). Casa Marbella is .delightful hotel. They had a staff person greet us at La Pavona, which is the boat station to get to Tortuguero. The boat ride was a blast and took us directly to the hotel. They were there to greet us and check us in. Note that if you book through any other site aside from their own, you will need to pay in cash, so be prepared! Most sites mention that few places in Tortuguero take credit cards...the hotel and the tours we took were cash only but some of the restaurants did take credit cards. Our room was good sized by Costa Rican standards. There is no air conditioning, which seems fairly common. They did supply 2 powerful fans which helped but I was melting. I think our sink leaked a bit because the bathroom floor was always soaking wet, which didn't help the humidity issue. The included breakfast was great and excellent portions. Service was responsive and even provided breakfast a it early on a day we had to leave beforw the usual service time.

Really a nice place to stay. Very close to everything. They have their own deck so you can just relax. Breakfast was served with fresh fruits, bread and eggs. Next day we had pancakes. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Sitting on the riverside deck watching life on the river is one of my most pleasant memories of Tortuguero.

We stayed here as a family with 2 kids for a night in the room overlooking the river and it was just a very pleasant experience. The hotel has its own dock and is very close to the beach and the national park entrance. They also offer guided tours and Victor was very knowledgeable with a super quiet electric motor boat. The breakfast they offered was delicious tropical fruits with pancakes made fresh in the kitchen. The receptionist and staff were very helpful and the place is clean and just perfect for families. We would definitely stay here again if we visited again.

It is in the village, the hotel is very basic. Breakfast has no options, one day pancake & one day eggs with no vegetables. The maintenance is very good the staff worked all the time to keep the place clean and tide. I don't recomend to take their night tour to see the turtules, the guid had very basic knowledge.
