Parking was a problem

In such a lovely position but you feel kind of neglected once youve checked in. That was the only time we saw a member of staff, no scope to leave bags in storage at end of stay and room size fit 1 not 2. When you need staff at 6/7am its no good if no-ones around til 8am/9am. Lovely spot but pretty lousey otherwise gutted to say

A very interesting little hotel in a great setting, staff friendly and helpful, overall a great experience.

Not suitable for guests to stay when the sun shines, since no proper aircon is installed. It seems the renovation budget did not include funds to fix that, so some ''hose out of the window'' aircons have been brought in. Staff works in cafe downstairs and are only allowed to assist guests if the manager approves it. NOT great

Very unique prison converted to a hotel. Great views in the morning Only mention is its a bit of walk from the train station to the hotel especially if you are dragging your suitcase on cobble stones

I like the price, location, cleanliness, restaurant, would have been nice to have a small bedside table, a larger bathroom mirror, bath towel bars. Perhaps a “curb” on the bathroom floor to help keep shower water contained. I would stay here again as it’s is because of price, location, free parking, cleanliness, comfortable bed, friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Please don’t change a thing if it means raising the price.

Liked the location and the hotel. Tried a courtyard room first. No view and fairly small. Lake facing rooms have a good view but can get hot when the sun is out. These are attic rooms and so are restricted headroom (did not stay in the cells which are downstairs). As the hotel is effectively on an island, there is only one way on and off. If for some reason there is a blockage you would not be able to get your car out. Car parking for the hotel is controlled entry. Nice walk around the haven and marina in the evening. However might be a bit bleak in the winter. The hotel has its own bistro and is next to a multi-screen cinema and a museum of 20th century and the tourist information office.

We loved the fact that this was converted prison. The rooms (lower floor) were basic, but well worth the money esp given they had private bathroom, and they were adequate size for single use. Perhaps on the small side if you are sharing. It was a little noisy on the Sat eve as some guests returning from their night out seemed to have no consideration for others, but that can happen anywhere and we are still happy with our stay. The food in the hotel restaurant was also really nice.

Awesome and unique experience. The breakfast was tailor made and the hotel overlooks the harbor. A bit like a local Alcatraz.

Our initial impression was terrible due to the off-putting and inhospitable 'tude of the rude redhead that finally checked us in. Subsequent staff was much better.

Super friendly staff, small clean adequate rooms, right on shore and by the hop on hop off bus stop rooms were very comfortable thank goodness windows open. No bathroom door it's open to room

Great surroundings, accessibility to walks, local shops, restaurants, cycling (everyone cycles). The hotel was a prison originally. The rooms were originally cells of the prison. Each hotel room was actually one and a half cells (the half was converted into the bath room) some rooms had bunk beds, some had a double bed. We went for the experience of sleeping in a prison.

The area and setting of the hotel was very good it took a few goes getting there due to roadworks etc. but apart from that no problems at all. We were unlucky not to have a "Cell" to sleep in you need to tick that when you book on the internet which I missed but the room we had on the 3rd floor made up for that because the views over the lake were amazing. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent,we will have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, well done, john&sylvia wisse

The hotel was clean and comfortable for our family group. Close to centeral station and close to other activities. Our room was in the front of the building and the noise from the street made it difficult to sleep. if the window was closed it wasn't too bad, but by the middle of the night the room was stuffy and opening the window made it too noisy to sleep. we used ear plugs and it was fine. perhaps request a room in the back of the building.

Nice location,good breakfast,helpful staff,internet access and free parking but not everyone's cup of tea simply because this hotel was initially a prison so the rooms(prison cells) are quite modest in size and NO views at the ground floor and some views on the upper floors .Double beds are not quite double but there is an alternative for bunk beds as well. Over all if you are in to try something new that u haven't done before then thats the right place

Fab hotels rooms not huge but very clean. Breakfast great staff very friendly and helpful

Breakfast was good and staff courteous; the common areas here are great and the location fantastic. but the actual room, down in the basement with no opening window, felt a bit too much like prison. Complete with the smell of drains.
