Nice hotel but disappointing breakfast

Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Not here for leisure so didnt venture much beyond the roo. This was simple but more than adequate.

I stayed here for two nights with my husband on our way down south. He is from the area and wanted to see Rutland Water. We visited various parts of the reservoir and really enjoyed seeing the area around. The hotel was also walkable distance from the museum so it was good to be able to visit that, especially when it started to rain. Oakham is a nice town. although we didn't do any shopping we went to a nice cafe and good Indian restaurant one night. We had a very nice meal at the hotel on our first night and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the place. Our room was very nice with nice furnishings and the bed was comfortable. We would certainly stay at the hotel again next time we travel south.
