Staying at the Bubble Hotel in Iceland was definitely a unique and memorable experience. Sleeping in a transparent bubble under the open sky is something special — the view of the surrounding nature was beautiful. It never got completely dark at night. The stay was comfortable overall but there were a few downsides worth mentioning. There was no reception staff to greet us upon arrival which made check-in feel a bit impersonal and confusing. We were told that sleep masks would be provided — an important detail given the constant daylight — but unfortunately, none were available. The bubbles themselves do not have locks which may be a concern for some guests in terms of privacy and security. Bathrooms and showers were located in the main guest house with two rooms that each included a toilet, sink and shower. While clean and functional, it’s a shared setup so be prepared for that aspect of the experience. Overall, this is a comfortable and scenic place to stay if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary but be aware of the limitations and come prepared.

Stayed here for a night as a couple - absolutely LOVED it. Air in the bubble room was cool inside (despite it being sunny and warm outside). Linens were super high quality. No one else there; it was off-season (May). We only had four hours of darkness, but the trees provided shading and it was easy to get a great night sleep. Bathrooms & showers are < 1 minute walk away at the service hut. Free WiFi and coffee at the hut. Self check in. To address concerns we read in other reviews (1) Hot shower water is piped from thermal hot spring so, yes, it has smell of sulphur - but it’s part of the Golden Circle experience! (2) Lots of privacy provided by the trees (especially in spring and summer) and the scent of the pine and fir trees made the air so fresh. (3) Not a lot of food options nearby so pack your own breakfast (fridge in the service hut).

So cozy and special! Our night was cloudy, but still felt very much a part of the nature around us, and we loved seeing the sunrise. (We learned throughout our trip that the aurora is fickle, so don't expect to see, but we thought this bubble was worth it anyway.) Felt private from the rest of the property. Well-heated--the heated blanket kept the space warm while it was chilly outside in March. Be careful with food in the space, since you're still out in the forest--we woke up to signs of nibbles on our snacks. Highly recommended!!

Super cool experience but absolutely no privacy. People walk right passed our bubble and can see in since there’s no curtains. There is NO privacy in our bubble. We were bubble #1. Others seemed to have more privacy with trees and location but not this one. You couldn’t change clothes without someone seeing you. Maybe if they curtained the entrance somehow or tinted the plastic to the entrance part of the bubble?? Definitely a one night kind of stay.

This is one of the most unique and amazing places we have ever stayed. The bubble is completely transparent so it feels as if you are laying outdoors in the forest, but without the cold. We stayed in January and had to have the host turn the heat down because it was too hot for us! The bed was very comfortable and being snuggled up warm and toasty under heavy down bedding while the wind blew hard and rain fell on our bubble was just awesome! It is a no frills lodging option. The bubble has heat and power, but nothing else. No water, etc. But it is the most posh "roughing it" we have ever done.

Unfortunately, it was not as delightful as we expected. The temperature inside the bubble was quite low which contributed to an uncomfortably chilly environment, and the bed and covers were noticeably damp. I regretfully wouldn't vouch for the comfort during the colder months. The experience might be more enjoyable in the spring or summer. In terms of the staff, our interactions were rather limited. We were acquainted with a single staff member at 5pm who checked us in and then vanished until the following day when we departed. I thought you should be made aware of these observations if considering a visit.

It was so said that this was arguably the worst part of our entire Iceland trip. I was so looking forward to the experience, but after spending one night the finically cost of $500 was just not worth it at all. On the positive side the bubbles and common area were very simple and Clean. Also the only staff member we interacted with was very nice and her dog was super friendly. Now for the cons… the bubbles were way closer to each other than we expected, in daylight you could definitely see your near by neighbors through the bare winter tree line. Next they don’t tell you that on cloudy night the local indoor agriculture farm produces so much light pollution that it practically lights up the entire sky making it a bright orange color. This factor alone made it insanely hard to sleep. Lastly and most importantly the check in and check out times are completely unfair especially for the winter conditions. They say the earliest you can check in it 5pm (the sun sets at 3:30 in December) so you will be getting there in the dark. They then want you to check out at the latest by 10am when the sun rises at 11:30 (so again you will be leaving in lightly dark conditions). I could handle not being able to sleep because I was more excited about the experience of trying something new and being able to experience the bubble. But these check in and out times for a one day stay mad it impossible to fully enjoy it.

Knowing what to expect is important, because we didn’t. The high cost per night suggests luxury (we paid £320), it isn’t. It’s camping in a unique tent. We picked the Bubble for Northern Lights spotting, thinking the location was in the middle of nowhere but there are two industrial size greenhouses, one within two miles that gives off a lot of yellow light into the sky causing extreme light pollution making it harder to see them. If it rains, the noise on the plastic container is very loud and of course, any middle of the night toilet breaks involves walking through that rain. At sunrise everyone tried to leave at the same time so there was a large queue for the two toilets / shower rooms in the out-house. Having said that the concept is cute and quirky and despite a bar’s night’s sleep we enjoyed the experience of waking up in the woods. If the price had been closer to £100 a night then we would have had the right mindset. Cool if it works out with the northern lights and sleep, no worries if it didn’t. As it stands it didn’t work out and we’re left feeling sensitive at how much we spent to do it.

Overall the condition of the bubble is to be expected / nice however the air filters/screens needs to be cleaned badly. The first night we where there we could not see anything due to light pollution from the greenhouse operations surrounding the properties that you can see from 100 km away. However they did turn the lights off about 2:00 a.m. The second night was the same thing but they did turn the lights off around 11:00 thankfully. Overall did love the experience outside of the greenhouses.

This was an amazing experience! I was a little skeptical because of other reviews, but we did not encounter any of the issues others have had. Check-in was very easy, our Bubble was clean and the bed was comfy and warm. The bed got so hot from the blanket warmer that we had to turn it down. We were lucky enough to stay on a clear night and were able to enjoy the northern lights from our bed inside the bubble! This is an experience that we’ll never forget!!

Bed was two unmatched twins that were pushed together. The beds had heating pads that were hard to control. We had to turn them off completely.
